View Full Version : Using your cell phone with the Onstar hands free speaker/mic
Anyone know if there's a way to do this? That is plug your cell phone into the hands free system that's connected to Onstar?
The hands free Onstar system works great. What a waste of it's only for Onstar, which I will hardly use.

I would love to do this as well...I have never used Onstar and my free year is up next week.
You can bet that if you hook up your cell phone to Onstar, the engine diagnostics will spew from your radio, the doors will lock/unlock 3 times, and the airbags will deploy! :-)

as a self appointed "cellular professional" i know of nothing on the market to interface a phone to the onstar system. however the members of this forum are the most resourceful bunch i have ever seen. guys, fire up your search engines and call your geeky techno buddy and i am sure we can come up with something.

Below is a link to someone I have spoke to in the past about this same issue. They have something made for a SAAB but never came up with anything for my Denali (or H2, for that matter).
Maybe someone here can work with them to come up with solution as I would love to have this in all of my GM's with onstar.

Here is another company that might could come up with a solution:

This would be amazing if it could work out. I would love to use my cell through the onstar mic.

Maybe someone at GM can answer this question for everyone. This is taken from the new HUMMER website and is from the H2 gallery. What is that in the ONSTAR location?

Well, it apears as the blue OnStar button is in the middle, but why would there be a phone keypad next to it? Also, that appears to be the emergency button to the right of the blue button. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

BMW has a solution for their cars. it is a bluetooth system, so you just need a phone withing 30 feet of the car, and it works through the sound system. pretty cool. You can scroll through the phone book and voice dial, all on the car's computer with steering wheel controls. Too bad GM doesn't have it...

Is it just my H2 or doesn't everybody have a voice activated cell phone on board?
I have used it several times, and plan to keep it going. I use it only when I have to. I really like the pre-paid minutes. When I know I'm going to be on for a while, I'll call back on my handheld phone, with a headset.

can't u just take out the Onstar system (after free yrs..) and then find speaker/mic wires and then somehow make them as plugs (of those handsfrees out on the market) and then hook it up to the phone..?
i think this would work.. since handsfrees r just extended mic/speaker system..
well.. can someone verify on this?
