Instructions on transfer case, "Fill to bottom of fill plug, install plug, add 0.25L through speed sensor hole, total fill amount 1.5L.
If you check your transfer case level at drain fill plug, if it is proper level, you can expect to see .25L of Dexron III fluid come out.
I changed my fluid to Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, Meets Dexron III, Approved fo H Specification. After filling to bottom of fill plug, I installed plug, then Jacked up drivers side of H3, front and back, let air out to 12 lbs on passenger side, this raised fill plug so I was able to add 0.25L=8.5 ounces.
I like to do my own maintance, and this is only due every 50,000 miles, but I would have liked the fill plug to be at proper level in first place. My wife and I love the H3.
