Hey fellas. Its nearing. The release of the 2007 models. I called them and since production starts june, they said 6-8wks after production starts, it will hit dealers.

My Question is, am I going to be too tall? Im 6'3 long legs. Will the H3 be too small for me? ANyone else that tall, taller, or near that owns one?

Only way to know is for you to sit in one. ;) One suggestion - get the Luxury package with the fully adjustable seats. The standard cloth seats don't let you adjust the seat height.

My Husband is 6'2, and he has loooong legs. Leg room is not an issue, just make sure you have the power seats in the Lux Package, you'll be fine.

I'm 6'2", have the adventure package and how no problems with the leg room. I think it is actually better than the other SUVs I have had.

I am just over 6' 0". I don't fit in most vehicles because of head room. (Must be a longer torso? ) I've sat in a few H3's (dealership closed but an unlocked H3 on the lot). Just to get a feel for the roominess. Nice headroom without a sunroof. Too small with sunroof (and lux pkg). So that's why you can't get the sunroof option.
Leg room: I think there is more leg room in H3 then my current QX4 (pathfinder clone). So H3 might just be the ticket.

No Sunroof! thats the only option i really wanted. does having a sunroof really take off that much inches from the roof?

Hummer Guy

Better to just go to a dealership and check it out for yourself -- don't base it on anything else but your own observation..

6'5, long legs, no problems whatsoever. Sunroof is not an issue and I have plenty of headroom and legroom is just perfect.

I wouldn't worry about it at all, there's plenty of room and more room than any other mid-size truck.

And yes, it's very easy to get in and out of

Hate to disagree (not really, but don't want to be obnoxious about it), but I dont' think the sunroof will really make much difference. It does take out some headroom, but if you get the non-power seat it is really low and plenty of headroom. If you get the power seat you can lower it to provide lots of headroom. I think perhaps HummerHippy sat in one that the seat wasn't lowered all the way.

I'm 6"4" and also have a long torso. I have headroom problems in most cars with sunroof, but not in the H3. Leg room is not an issue, I don't drive with the seat all the way back and there is still plenty of room.

Good luck!

The sunroof should not be an issue. Actually I love having it and think it is a huge benefit.

I also have the lux pkg and love the ease of adjustments and heated seats. My brother in law is 6'5" and he had no problem driving my standard trans H3.

I wouldn't have ordered one myself. It wasn't even on my list of would like to haves. But one was there and now that I have I love it and use it all the time. Open the sunroof and back windows and it's great getting the air without it beeting you to death through the window.

The funny thing is that I drive our H2 with the seat all the way back. I'm 6'0 and that works for me. If I sit in my H3 and put the seat all the way back, I can't even reach the pedals! :D So the H3 has more room for tall ppl with long legs.... even more than the H2. I have power seats with sunroof in the h3 and love it!

Hate to dissagree with you usetosell, but I don't think the cupholders get in the way at all. They are just in the right place for me whether I'm driving or being a passenger. And I use my sunroof all the time. Granted I close it durring the heat of the day, but I can't wait to open it when the sun starts going down.:D

I wear size 13 shoes Bebe, do I lose a demerit for that :D

My problem is not leg or head room but foot room with the pedals so close together. I have to have my right foot basically laying on its side to work the gas pedal and not get hung up on the brake pedal. Really becomes a problem when off road trying to BTM since my right heal sticks further over than the brake pedal :(

Do you really use your sunroof? come on be honest. Too hot, too cold, too much noise.. come on you don't use it do you? it just stays coverd up over 80% of the time or more.

It varies from person to person. I use mine all the time and when not open, the shade is only closed maybe 5% of the time to cut down on heat when parked. It was one of the options that I required. Now my GF has had a sunroof in her past 3 cars and it is probably covered up 75% of the time and open maybe 5%.

My brother drives a manual '04 eclipse, and that was hard for me to work the gears because im taking up 2/3 of the car=) sometimes I would press the gas, and get some break also. It wasnt very smooth with me. ANd my knees would rest on the gear stick. errrsometimes being this tall is a curse!!=)

So now theres a problem with the pedals too close???

Always been a problem and was one of the first complaints when they hit the streets. I have gotten used to it and just position my feet differently. It is an issue for me when off road and trying to BTM though.

There was a pic of someone's in black and the rig was out in the snow. It looked great!!!

I dont have an h3 yet:( . What is Tellico?

You have time to get it before we go back. Best way to break it in. I only had 1,050 miles on mine when I head out to go there. Tellico is a OHV area in the national forest up there. From what I have heard it is in the top ten in the nation but not sure. There are all kinds of trails there from the almost a gravel road to the OMG

When we were there it was one of the two busiest weekends of the year and I do not recall seeing any stock vehicles other than the Hummers in the group. This was my first time out and I can honestly tell you that when we first go to the trails I was saying to myself "holy sh!t what did you get yourself into":) After the first run up trail #5 I was absolutely hooked and totally impressed with the H3. A week before we headed out I talked to a guy I know down here the had been to Tellico with his built Jeep and he though for sure we were going to get in over our heads there. Nothing but a Sunday drive for the Hummers :D

Of course I don't want anything to happen to it but it was a great time. I ended up with a few trail scars on a couple of wheels and a couple of others ended up with some dents but as far as I know, nobody regretted any of it. Like I mentioned before, I don't recall seeing any stock vehicles there other than ours and you really can compare a stock vehicle to most of what was there. Granted there were a lot of slightly modded vehicle that I don't think would keep up with the Hummers but there were also plenty of rigs like this and they are built for the trail (note the 4 wheel steering) and that is it.

6'4" normal porportions and I fit fine. It actually has more than enough leg room and head room with or without the sunroof. Normally I automatically push the seat all the way back and tilt it, in the H3 this is too far away for a comfortable ride.:)

HummerHippy
06-08-2006, 09:57 PM
Oh, and btw - I like headroom with the seat backs fairly vertical. I certainly have enough head room with a sunroof if I am reclining halfway back in the seat, but then it's harder to reach the steering wheel (of course). Might explain some of the differenced in this post.

I am assuming Matt19 has made his decision on this, but I thought I'd throw in my $.02 as I was reviewing historical posts. I am 6'3"/228 lbs. and I feel I have ample room in the H3. The door switches are bit hard to reach left handed, so I use and under-the-left arm right handed approach to the window switches. Otherwise, I give the comfort a 9/10, simply because I feel the lumbar pad / adjustment could have been a bit more larger / extreme.

I am 6'7" tall and fit in the H3 just fine! The fact that I do fit in it is a big point in my book when purchasing a vehicle. Some of the other SUVs out there I fit into, but I seriously don't want an Exhibition, er Expedition, nor do I want something that barely goes off road. Hence, the H3!!

I am 6'4" (36" jean inseam), and I too have no problems. I would prob have to agree with "Mike E"; however, it is a big deal and I do wear big shiny black size 14 boots -- so pedal spacing may always be an issue for me.

Hey all of us tall people, we have all been telling Matt19 (etc.) how easy and comfortable it is for us to fit into our H3. I guess what we forgot to tell him is just don't sit in the backseat. While you may have some width and headroom in the backseat, I think the leg and feet room is like a budget airline (assuming you also have tall people in the front).

My friends and I are thinking about a long road trip in December, but I am not sure if four 6'+ people are going to be confortable for the entire journey. What the hell...I'll be driving so to hell with them -LOL.

Isn't that what the roof carrier is for? :dancingbanana:

I'm 6'2" and mine has the sunroof, no problems at all. I don't come close to hitting and I've bounced her around pretty god and never hit my head yet. You will be fine.

I am 6'3", 225 pounds, broad chest/shoulders, 36" inseam. No problems here and I have the 06 Adv. Package with the roof. I had a 1995 Explorer prior to my H3 and the H3 is much more comfortable, especially from a back support perspective. I sometimes wish for more lumbar support but this is because I have lower back issues. For a person without back issues, the support should be excellent.

The only true problem I have is when I have the rear seats down - it cuts down on the movement of the driver's seat (back and forth as well as seat back angle).

Regardless, entering and exiting are not issues.

Plenty of range in lux seat adjustments.
