View Full Version : H4 Sighting Possible???

This may be old news, but I haven't heard anything besides "talk" about an H4. My boss called this afternoon on his way back from Winston-Salem, NC and asked if Hummer was making a pickup truck. He then asked if I had heard of the H4. I told him that they made the H2 SUT which had a small truck bed. He then said no, it was more of a pickup and saw the H4 logo clearly on the back. He said he was traveling down I40 and spotted the red Hummer Pickup passing him, but couldn't keep up with it. He was serious about it and said that he wasn't making this up, since he had never heard of an H4 or even an H3 until he saw mine. I believe that he thinks he saw one, but don't know if I would believe it until I saw one myself. Anyone else seen anything? Are there even working prototypes for the truck yet?

It is based on the current H3. It is not quite as cool as the H3t concept but is is comming and there are mules and protos out there. They usally don't have markings.

the logo part sounds strange...since it sounds like an H3T, and i doubt they would put that on a test vehicle if they were trying to keep it quiet...he needs a camera phone! How fast was it going if he couldn't keep up?

I saw the H3 mule at the track in Mishawaka two years prior. I don't think it would be badged but a reg cab truck it will be.

X2 on the camera phone, I told him the same thing.
He wasn't sure how fast he was going, probably close to 80. Said he got blocked in behind 2 trucks and couldn't get around...
I guess it could have been some type of custom job also...
Both the H3t and H4 sound very interesting.

H4 was a proto for a smaller H3, and did NOT have a pickup truck bed. H3T is the H3 with a pickup truck bed. Could he have seen a H3T? I don't believe so, don't think they have any protos running around the states, but it would be more likely then an H4, which was canceled.
Latest rumor is the H4 will replace the trailblazer. How a Hummer will replace a Chevy, know one says.:D

like NEO said:
Hummer H4: The H4 will be Hummer?s competitor for the Jeep Wrangler. It will be based on the GMT-355 platform and will have a removable top and doors. It will also be the cheapest vehicle in the Hummer line-up, starting in the mid $20,000?s. It may arrive in 2008.
That scenario seems very likely to me.
I just hope the H4 has a SFA and a locker.

as an 08 look for the h3t next year, mabe sooner. They must rush the 4. Dealers have huge investments and are bent on slow product line fulfillment. The full size H2 pick up or something will come next year for sure.

If they are going to put out an H4 in '08, they better hurry up. It is off the books, and has been off all tracking reports for quite a few months. Look how long it took the H3T to come to life, and it is a minor redesign compared to a new vehicle with a new body and new drivetrain components.
If GM brought it back on Monday, earliest it could hit would be '09 and most likely '10. Have to remember, it has to be designed, modeled, approved, components chosen, tested (for off-readability, crash worthiness, emissions, fuel mileage, etc.), then put into production. If someone can do all that by '08, come on over to GM and get to work.:D
One vehicle I know of that was on the reports since '05 is not hitting the road until '08 and all it has is a basic engine change with a stronger rear axle, trans, etc., and some extra carbon fiber parts. The design has been around.

I was up at MT Evans today. Every time I go up there, I see test vehicles and prototypes. I was able to get a couple pics of the new H3T. It was silver and looked sweet. It sound like it had more than an I5 in there too. Here's a pic from a real cammera...not a phone cam.
Enjoy.

Not even close or in the same catagory.:D
However, the so-called H3 Alpha, which started last year, will take two years to hit the road, so how do people think something that is not even on tracking sheets, and is a complete new vehicle, will hit the road the same time.

No.
It looked more like a crossover between the Exploroer Sport Trac and an H3. It looked good, but there was too much "coverings" all over it really tell.
Tim, that is going to be awesome!!!! I wish you had pics of the drivetrain. I'm really interested in that.
Why can't I post that type of pic?

Ken, that's the same bs I got. It won't let me attach it anymore.
I may just have to get it on my screen and take a pic of that and try to post it. What did you think of the bed compartments? Perfect for your recovery gear. That front bumper shot has the slot in there like it may use a winch in the future. I'm just mot sure where the license plate will go than.
I doubt that bumper will make it to production. It's too purpose built for a mass produced vehicle. There's just no other use for GM for those.
The bed compartments are gonna kill Honda! Especially if they're water tight.
Here's another try at a pic.

H4...yea right...
How does one view these classified photos? I must post some of the first pictures of a mostly uncamoflaged H3. I took them in Late July 2004, just before the Rubicon auto mag test drive. They're on my system in Colorado, which I should have soon. It's fun to look at them again now that the H3 is out.

Small Hummer in, Trailblazer out at GM?
http://news.windingroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/06/Hummer-H4-AutoWeek-renderin.jpg
People don?t often think of in the same breath as ?fuel-efficiency,? but that may change somewhat, as word ?round the campfire has General Motors going ahead with a sub-H3 model for its SUV range, with an eye towards increasing miles-per-gallon.
While buyers should hardly expect a skinny-tired Prius with Hummer badges (the so-called H4 would match up against Jeep?s iconic Wrangler), the SUV is expected to be part of a larger plan at GM to increase fuel economy (http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=33285#) numbers across the board, particularly among the automaker?s trucks. Earmarked as a 2009 model, the H4 could be built from a cut-down H3 platform, and is expected to hit the market around the time GM axes its Chevrolet TrailBlazer.
