You really need FRIENDS to spot you because there is no room for APOLIGIES and FORGETFULNESS.
Was there any SWAPPING of ideals between the WIVES????
Must have been scary enough to put you on MEDICATION.

Yes, we think. The ((ABS)) and TCX2 light came on earlier on Hell's but we didn't know why. Everyone noticed the drive shaft not moving when I was tipped WAYTF up on my passenger side. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gifhttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gifhttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah, it's stuck in 4 low right now. There are a plethera of new noises. The front diff isn't leaking to anything of significance or that I can see at all. On the way down the rest of Hell's the Pass. front tire was rubbing way more on the wheel well/ fender flare than usual also.
The front driver side tire was not moving upon acceleration up there and the back tires were spinning and smoking up at the top.
We'll find out more today at the 4x4 shop. I remember running it a little hard on some significant ledges on a narrow part of Metal Masher on Monday. But the lights came on shortly before the hot tubs on Hell's yesterday. Weird. I guess we'll see. Phil I'm sure Ken will call you later.

Exactly like the cards in the bicycle wheels.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif But I 'm not worried about that. I know what that is.
I am hoping that it is not the t-case- obviously. It will not disengage the 4lo lock button- the 4hi will flash when pressed in neutral but will not engage. The gears on the asphalt coming back seemed to be slow or altered even considering it was in 4lo. We did it manually the last block.
But I am still hopeful that it is a computer issue- disconnections of sensors for the abs and ds tire causing it to lock in the current mode. Wishful I know- but t-case sounds worse than CV joint or axel shaft to me.
The boot on the PS front tie-rod has been cracked and the rubber accordion-like grease holder up next to the DS front tire (excuse the lack of tech term) is leaking.

I am going to fo in the parking lot now and try to push the two buttons to get it in neutral and see what happens....

It won't go into neutral. The ((ABS)) light and the (TC) lights are still on on the dash.

The the DS tierod boot is cracked on the top. Not a significant leak oe anything- just need a new one. Phil, if I will need one of those sent here if you could.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Ken will call in a little while.
The accordion thing up against the PS front tire is the CV boot right? The one that is dripping green. I will go get some pics.

No, but that is a good idea. Will do.
In the manual 3-34 the TCS (traction off light) is linked to the abs and could be because the sensor was disconnected or damaged.

Is some going to take a look at it this morning? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>I am in the middle of looking this up but a thought out loud.
If the CV is gone and you are in 4 LO, the computer is not registering any wheelspin at the tire when it should be, so now the ABS and <STRIKE>TC</STRIKE> lights on the dash are on. Maybe as a result of the CV being gone. So then, the Electronic Brake Control Module is telling the Transfer Case Control Module to not allow any shifting.

Well, we took it in and they have the stuff locally here to fix it. Most likely the CV joint. They didn't look at it right away- so I am dreading a call that says "Well we got the cv on but...."http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
They said it should be done today. Which is fugtastic!!!http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif They aren't busy and everyone is doing their extracuricular activities today i.e. golf, horsebackriding etc. We should be all set for tomorrow's wheeling.

Maybe as a result of the CV being gone. So then, the Electronic Brake Control Module is telling the Transfer Case Control Module to not allow any shifting. I called an talked to a H2 tech and he can't see how the two are tied electronically. Not being a big believer in coinkydinks I just can't reason that the two aren't related.
But there is a Transfer Case lockout feature that is controlled on the Transfer Case Control Module. The TCCM controls everything to do with the t-case and is tied to the Class II. I'm thinking maybe the BCM is telling the TCCM to engage the lock out feature which will not allow voltage to flow to the t-case actuator thus it won't shift out of 4LO.
All that said, once the CV is fixed and it's driven around a little to clear the code, I'm thinking the t-case should then shift out of LO.

My guess is some sensor or electrical module is dead.
Dumb Question: did anyone check TREC 30A fuse in underhood fuse block or 4WD 15A fuse in IP fuse block? Use Onstar diagnostics check for DTC set in computer memory?
h2co-pilot
04-21-2006, 03:13 AM
Hummie- I checked out those fuses- plus a few more. They all look fine. Replaced 15a just in case.
My guess...It has to be something related to the abs sensor. I am pretty sure we have them and they are directly linked to the actuator for saftey. Hopefully, the dealer will be able to reset it. Didn't think about Onstar though.

We used a programer to pull codes, but there weren't any.
Neither actuator worked, so it must be controlled by the computer somehow and is in a "safety mode". I really don't know how that works.

Are the lights still on in the IP? If so, it might take a few key cycles and driving a few miles for it to "realize" things are fixed itself.
Or it might have to take a Tech2 tool to fix it.

Speaking of "key cycles" I wonder if a bad Ign. Switch can FU the T-case shifting too? Seems like it can be the cause of everything else acting up in the truck. I carry a spare switch in the glove box just in case one goes bad. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm thinking we need to find a decent frame-bent salvage H2 and all pitch in and buy it. When we have big trail rides we can just stick it on a trailer and scavenge parts off of it as needed (it's a ready made storage system with bolts and stuff already cataloged http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) and if someone needs something some other time, just pull the part and send it to them.
We would have to come up with some system of buying the new parts to replace the old ones being taken off so that it stays fair to everyone.

Yeah we did, but it was VIN locked- doesn't mean it can't detect codes though, I think it should have worked- it did not show any, but the abs and <STRIKE>TC</STRIKE> light are still on the dash.
Who knows- it is driving fine in 4hi and we will prolly get down to the bottom of everything back home. Then I am going to give Big Nasty a spanking for giving us so much trouble on our trip. He has been a very bad boy.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
