I live in the boonies (sort of)...Clear Lake, IA. Half way between Minneapolis and Des Moines. That's where the closest Hummer dealers are.

I've only had my H2 for about 6 months and have a few minor waranteeable issues that I want fixed. But to get them fixed I either have to make multiple journies or go for an extended multi-day trip probably.

Since my employer is in the Twin Cities (I work at home :-), I could go into the office for a couple days, but I just had a new son and it's a little hard with a mom working too to leave them alone for a couple days just to get a car worked on. Oh well, I'll get it in sometime soon.

So who's worse off than me? Who has a longer distance to a dealer in order to get their H2 worked on?

Have you tried your local gm dealer? That's who I work with. If I don't, I'm 3hrs away from a hummer dealer.

PhildD,
Ya. Stupid mistake. I'm about 130 miles from either dealer.

dochummer,
My local GM dealer advertises the Hummer make in the yellow pages. But they'll only do basic maintenance on it. I don't think they qualify for warantee reimbursement for most stuff and they probably don't have some of the tools anyhow.

In fact, when I take it in for rotate, they don't want to put it up on their 9000lb hoist. It makes them nervous. So they use floor jacks and jack stands all around to do the job.

They can do it and get payed, but some of the problems they may run into are of a Hummer only
issue in which may tie up a tech for a longer period time then they can afford. To put a mirror
on for example pay's I think (maybe wrong).8 10ths and takes a Hummer tech who has done a few 3.A Chevy tech who never done one may take
1.2 hrs.And then theres the CSI issue if it takes longer and upsets someone.

I'm only 60-70 miles ~ 1 hour but its still inconvenient. I've also had two local GM dealers flat refuse to do warranty work.

the local dealers are on catastrofic failure only list. if the Hummer dealer is to far or its dead in the driveway they MUST attemt to call for approval. most times its not an issue. sorry to hear you asked for help and got snubed.

My local GM will do any warranty service so far. The only problem is whether or not it's done correctly... And they can't tell you if something is functioning properly or not, ie air suspension sag. We have two GM dealers, and only 1 will do work.

OK how about this?

Since November I had been hearing a clunk from the left rear of my truck every time I turned left. I had taken it to Pasadena hummer four different times for this issue and each time they supposedly found something to replace or tighten. Each time I would drive it off the lot and the noise was still present. Finally I took the service manager for a drive to demonstrate the problem. They tightened all the bolts on the suspension and sent me on my way. The service manager told me that noise was the axle moving around in the housing and it was normal.

I then took it to Cerritos hummer and they replaced an ABS sensor at that wheel and said that it was fixed. No it wasn't.

I've been in Tahoe the last few days so I took the opportunity to have the Rod Hall folks in Reno take a look at it. One quick drive with a technician and I was told that it was definitely NOT normal. They tried one fix having to do with the body mounts then drove it and discovered that the noise was still present. I hear Chad Hall told them to keep working at it. Finally, they found the pan hard rod was bent and replaced it. PROBLEM SOLVED.

I have to give the Rod Hall group a "completely satisfied" survey.

So, I traveled 480 miles, almost 8 hours, to have my truck fixed. Maybe I’m a little worse off than you.

So I've got a reason to go to Tahoe now. Cool.

My local dealer is only about 10 miles away, they have an exellent service dept. I am glad that I'm not hundreds of miles away like some of you. If I have a problem I can usually get it fixed the same day, unless its something major.

Call Hummer, They arranged for me to have mine serviced at my local GM dealer. If they have at least 1 hummer trained tech they will let you get it serviced there.
