Make sure to TELL them you want the '06 mirrors. I've heard some dealers are trying to pawn off older stock if they have it.

They will replace any of the old style mirrors for the newer syle if you tell them that your mirrors rattle/vibrate.

WHAT?! My drivers mirror rattles like crazy and folds in at half speed... my dealer (tech) told me they would only replace when the mirror actually breaks. I don't get it.. why is my dealer holding out? Its pretty hard to see out of it at 50mph+ from the shaking.. just trying to figure out who I need to add to the lawsuit from not being able to see out of the mirror and the resulting accident (hasn't happened yet). (that tactic didn't work either)..

Chris where is the Dealership that you went to. I brought my 05 in yesterday to Sewell Hummer in Metairie in New orleans. My drivers side mirror rattles a little and at night you get double vision out of it. I told him that I would like to upgrade to the 06 mirrors if I could. Quitely expressed my feelings on a recall for mirrors. His reply, "there's no such recall, don't believe what you here on the internet". Nothing but attitude. I hooked my boat up to the H2 and the trailer lights wouldn't work. The brakes lights and blinkers worked but no running lights. He tells me it sounds like you have a problem with the trailer. I immediately told him that I hooked it up to another vehicle and it worked fine. Then he says okay we will look at it. I hope it's not this bad everytime I have to go there.

Nice,
I also asked him about putting an aftermarket air intake, would this void my warranty. His response, "that's a touchy subject, if you put an air intake on and you blow the motor your warranty will be voided."

My '03 mirrors had a module problem on one mirror......no problems with mirrors at all. They replaced both mirrors with '06 ones....no more folding problems.

What is the difference between the 05 and 06 mirrors? i.e. How could I tell if the 05 H2 I am looking at has the updated mirrors?

06 mirror have a chrome insert that says H2 on them, the 05's do not.

MJBLook at a new '06 and see what the mirrors look like, then compare. If the truck you're "looking" at has the old style, don't worry. It's a problem your local dealer will fix.

Got my truck back yesterday with a brand new 05 mirror. Hopefully they just have a few 05 mirrors in stock and I can take it back in about 6 months and try again for the 06's. By the way my wiring harness problem, yeah it's still there.

My dealer has been telling me to pound sand about getting new mirrors since before it went off warranty. I have mentioned this so called bulliten or recall and he says he knows nothing. Now off warranty, they say they are happy to replace with 06 mirrors for $900,00. Wish I had another Hummer dealership closer! Sioux Falls Hummer isn't doing squat for mine!

That just don't make cent's( and dollars)I replace under warranty 5 sets every month.I keep one set of the old style for body jobs and out of warranty issues.

If the truck is in warranty GM has no problem paying for both sides.
Either the dealer is uninformed or they do not like customers to come back
for customer pay work.

Go figuire?

I had my mirrors worked on at least twice under warranty. Just as warranty was about to go off my 03, I had them worked on again for a 3rd time. This was for the fact they failed to fold half the time. About 3 months later, same thing happened again....mirrors wouldn't fold. My service manager is a great guy. Tried to pull strings he said but couldn't do anything since it was out of warranty for this work. I decided to leave them since this would be the 4th time getting the mirrors worked on and they seem to go bad right away anyway. Some time later, I started reading about this so called bulletin and possible recall of the mirrors for 06 upgrades. I have tried calling my service manager twice now to see if there was anything they could do or "good faith" incentive to upgrade the mirrors. I now have 59K miles on the truck and the mirrors bobble like they are waving to people as you go down the road. Pretty sickening for a 50K truck to have such sloppy parts. Anyway....still nothing doing on getting mine upgraded. If someone knows a way to get these upgraded, I'm all ears!!
Thanks.

What did they do when you were under warranty? replace modules?
Do you have all your paper work to what they had done?If you kept all
that call customer service and explain your woe's to them.9 out of 10
get taken care of.Good luck.

How long ago was the last time they worked on them? You have 12 months from that date to get them fixed again if they were not fixed right in the first place.

:iagree: but even more so since you can show that they were never really corrected, GM will allow "good will" gestures (fixes outside of warranty) if you push the service department hard enpough:twak:

My service manager said he tried to get something done thru a good will program but said he could pull it off. I went to the Hummer/GM website and even emailed Hummer in hopes of stirring up a recall or at very minimum getting a response. Still no response and that was 4 or 5 months since my last email. Figured with all the talk, they had to be aware of the issues and maybe a disgruntled customer might get something done. As of now, my service manager said if he had a set of 06 mirrors come in and needed replaced he'd call me and I could have the take offs. Not holding my breath on that one! Oh well...another year and I'm sure some will be showing up on ebay or salvage. Not paying $900 for a replacement set of mirrors.

open the door panel.... gain access to the mirror motor.. spray a little saline on the motor... and wait.
Or manually fold them in and out till they break.

Don't think there is any other way... Dealer wont fix them until they wobble off the friggn truck. My drivers side mirror is useless above 40 mph.. it wobbles around so bad I can't even tell what F'ing lane I'm looking at. :twak:

First off there will never be A "recall" on A luxury Item like power folding options on A mirror not working. If they fail while under warranty there is A service bulletin(not A recall) to replace both with 06 mirrors, only if one fails. If your dealer does not know this print this for him and get your new mirrors.

<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1762132&psdid=732&evc=sm#ss1-1762132">New Outside Rear View Mirror Availability

The outside rearview mirrors have been redesigned for the 2006 HUMMER H2 and are a much improved design over those used on prior models. The new mirrors have a different appearance than the original equipment 2003-2005 mirrors. Should you have the need to replace a mirror on a 2003-2005 H2, you should replace both mirrors as the new mirrors are now all chrome. The new design mirrors are P/N 15835056 (left) and P/N 15835057 (right).
Most customers should be satisfied with the appearance of the new mirrors. The original style mirrors may still available for a limited amount of time. DO NOT order the original style mirrors unless the customer has an objection to the new style mirrors. Be sure to indicate that the new mirrors are both more robust and will help to update the look of the vehicle. Once supplies of the original style mirrors are exhausted, they will not be available.

Either way... its Jacked. even though the mirrors fold.. the fact that they are useless while driving from bobbling around should be enough to get them fixed or replaced. They won't do either. I think for my next oil change and check up.. I am gonna wrap a buttload of duct tape on the effected mirror.. just for dramatics when I pull into the Hummer dealer service bay. :D

If they rattle bad enough as to impair your ability to see they should replace them as A safety issue. I've replaced several that folded in, the only problem was they were loose at the pivot point and there is no way to repair them.

If only you were in Colorado... getting something fixed (even under warranty) is harder than pulling teeth. You would think its coming out of their paychecks or something.
I'm gonna wrap it up real nice with duct tape when i bring it.... If that's what the dealer wants to see driving around town... so be it.

Went to the dealer for an oil change and alignment. While I was there I complained about the drivers mirror shaking again. This time.. the tech noticed it.. and put in a warranty claim for the mirror.
THEN.. the extended warranty company only wanted to fix the ONE mirror, which would have left me with one 06 style and one 03 Lux style (real nice look). (After a long argument with warranty people, Dealer stepped up and footed the bill for the second). Both swapped out as one issue.
I have a whole new opinion for my dealership!

what is the cost of the mirrors themselves? I'm out of warranty and while i had them worked on once or twice I'm not sure if i have the paper trail. One doesn't fold at all the other is sketch (maybe a little grease on that one) I'd just as soon replace myself to save some cash. Also if i got an old one on ebay for just the passenger side is there a chance i will receive one that is already faulty?
