I have been reading this forum for a little while. Thanks for all the info posted in the archives. Very Valuable to a newbie. I do have a question? I was told that that Hummer discontinued the Desert Sand for 07'. Seems odd since that was my second color choice and have had nothing but compliments on the color since purchase. I looked on the Hummer and other sites and Desert Sand is not listed as a color option for 07'. Any info on why, it seems Desert Sand is one of the most popular on this site.

Not sure why the desert sand color was discontinued but... As you know the Dark Green on the H3 was discontinued, and since that was my original first color choice when I ordered mine I asked why I couldnt get it, they said it was discontinued becuase they werent selling enough in that color. So that could be the same case with Desert Sand color.

HUMMER often changes colors between years. It might have something to do with popularity, but it seems more to me for distinction between years. Several colors have come and gone -- orange, green, red, desert sand, etc. In fact, distinct colors are the main component of the Limited Editions -- red, blue, bright orange, pale blue, ... I think we'll continue to see colors changes along the way.

Pewter is the dominant color. Team Pewter Power has conquered all major trails.
Desert Sand was/is a great color. My next H2 was going to be DS.

The Team Pewter Puff color is soooo 2003. Now, it's only for girls, pirates, etc.

Your always safe with WHITE, looks good, feels good and always looks classy, yet it can make it look more rugged too. Go WHITE.:beerchug:

Howdy Neighbor and welcome to the forum!!
Looks like we live close to eachother.
By now you know what a great dealership we have (Towbin). I have been around this town for many decades and have bought more new vehicles than I care to remember. I had given up on finding a friendly dealer for ANY brand until I bought my Hummer last April. If you liked the buying experience - you are going to love the after sale treatment. These people still act as if I am in the buying mode! They give me gas, clothes, toys or something every time I stop there. They even replaced my door handle, no charge, after the truck was broken into at the gym. I couldn't believe that one!! Enough about the dealer - you'll love em!!
You will know me if you see me on the street. The license is my screen name. Let me rephrase that. You'll know my wife. She took over the Hummer as soon as I made the mistake of letting her use it. Easy come-easy go. At least I get to drive it on weekends!!!!!!
See you around and enjoy your Hummer!

You guys are all extremly wrong, everyone knows Slate Blue is the way to go, can make it look nice and classy, or hardcore and offroady.(is that evena word? ) All in all, all the colors look great, and for those that have the colors that are no longer in production, it makes the car all the more interesting to see!

Don't let anyone fool you! Desert Sand was meant to be a two year limited color. Not every one can handle that much aof a good thing.
Desert Sand is the only TRUE HUMMER color.... with the exception of the 03/04 Sage Green.
It is strange that HUMMER got rid of the greens for the H2 and also the H3. Maybe thats why the h1 was killed off. They only had green paint left?

Thanks for the Welcome all. As soon as I get smaller res picts of my rig I will post them. I just bought a brand new SMA Heavy Brushguard with Valance and PIAA headlights. Waiting to get them installed. Unfortunately the shipper did not wrap the brushbar very well and was cardboard sanded in many places. Getting it sandblasted and repowdered coated with a heavier crinkle finish. Not too upset total $535 shipped and half the recoat on brushbar.
Question: any why to disable the DRL lights due to the PIAA being located in the same place as the DRL. I would like to the use the PIAA switch to control them and not sure if if it would interfere with the auto light function if I just terminated the connection at the DRL lights?

Hello mowdoc
I will be on the look out for your (wife's) rig. My wife loves mine too. I was not able to buy mine at Towbin, could not agree on the numbers. I found a 2 month 3000 mile used on Henderson BMW's lot. Story was he loved it, wife wanted a bimmer. She won. His loss my gain.
So far I am pleased with Towbin service, but not saying much only two oil changes so far. It is assuring that your experience is positive. Hope I don't need them like that.
