Tailgate Lock

Is there a lock that can be attached to the spare tire bar to keep it from being opened? Looking at purchasing a 06 SUT. Also, can the rear tailgate be locked? The vehicle I'm looking at has the hard locking tonneau cover on it. Don't want anyone to having access to that area. Thanks

Supposedly, when the cover is closed the tailgate is locked. But, the cover is basically a flimsy POS and really isn't very secure. I wouldn't trust it.
If someone could come up with a way to lock the spare, it might help some.

Try replacing the detent pin by the latch with a longer one and drill a hole at the tip and place a padlock there or find a locking detent pin.
