That is the reason I bought my H2, there are also reasons which delayed my H2 purchase, mainly the image of the vehicle, or at least what I perceived to be the image http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I doubt anyone bought the H2 for "offroad ability ONLY", as there are better vehicles to buy/build if you are only interested in offroad ability. That should really just read "offroad ability".
One of the more obvious choices missing is "All around ability, on/off-road". And of course you have also missed the most important choice, "To be exclusive" http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Uuuhhh, thought of most of those Phil but not enough choices allowed. The "Because it's different" gets the "exclusive" category. Just toned down. All good points but had to generalize.

I had the Tahoe with 6" lift and 35" tires. Liked the Hummer not for what it was, but for what I could make it. "Real off road vehicles or built not bought."

I voted, "Like nothing else." I spent 25 years in the service. During many of those years, I found myself behind the wheel of a HMMWV. It's a great vehicle, but in the PI or places like Korea where the roads are narrow, it can be scary without someone riding shotgun. My favorite vehicle was the M1009 CUC-V, a vehicle I had assigned to me during my last tour in Korea. For me, the H2 is the perfect blend of both -- and a whole lot more comfortable than either one of them, something that becomes important when you get a little older.
I bought mine for the great gas milage.

I don’t really know which button to push. I bought mine because it is just so F*CKIN’ cool. Girls I date LOVE it, my friends want to ride in it/drive it, socialist sh*t heads HATE it, tiny cars fear it, and… I can finally see over the guard railing on the roadside when I drive to the mountains.

"Like nothing else" that's a very true statement. I didn't want a cookie cutter SUV, escalades are starting to look like Tahoes to me and I'm a Die Hard GM man. So I went with what I believe i the top of the line SUV on the planet. I like the H1 but I love the H2 and there is not another SUV made in any price range that I would trade my H2 for.

Below is a link to a video that displays part of the reason I have an H2. I was at the farm and my Dad said he heard some coyotes on the place. It was wet and cool and I had no desire to take my 4 wheeler to go hunt them. I put my rifle in my H2, turn on the heated seats and looked for them. I turn the camera on in case I did run into some coyotes or other animals. I chopped this vid down but it is still a large file since it was shot at night I kept the resolution high. It does stream though.

Population control of animals is a requirement for landowners. It's kinda hard to spaid and neuter wild animals and predatory animals have to be kept in control just like any other species of animal. It is what allows the habitat to stay balanced and for the survivors to live healthily.

The trees and bushes grow thick and fast around here and rubbing up against small branches is just going to happen. One of the reasons I always get white vehicles, the rub rash doesn't show up as bad and you can get it waxed and most of it goes away.

I might get a mobile version of the sonic device the Nissan plant has to try stop hail http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. Here is a story about it:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>Jackson 02/03/04
Nissan Uses Device to Stop Hail
By Bert Case
bert@wlbt.net
Nissan demonstrated its new device designed to protect its parking lot from a hailstorm for WLBT News on Tuesday. It is a cannon that sends sonic waves up to 50,000 feet in the air to keep hailstones from forming.
There are more than 400 such machines in operation in the world, and this is the ninth one installed in the United States. They are made in Canada and are used primarily to protect crops. It works by using its own radar to detect the conditions that are favorable for hail to form.
It automatically activates when its own weather radar system detects conditions favorable for the formation of hail. It fires every 5.5 seconds, making a sound we know can be heard at least five miles away from the Nissan plant near Canton. It then starts sending sound waves into the cloud every five-and-a-half seconds.
The sound at ground zero is about 120 decibels, or about the same as a tornado warning siren. Workers are installing fences around two of the machines in the 140-acre parking lot at Nissan and filling the fences with hay in an effort to reduce the sound level.
Eric Rademacher is an environmental engineer with Nissan who is an expert on the Hail Suppression System.
"Hailstones are formed and begin with a piece of dust in the clouds," he explains. "There is a lot of activity going on, and what we do is to de-ionize that activity in the clouds and keep those dust particles from collecting moisture out of the clouds in turn reacting and forming what we know as a hailstone."
If you ever hear this system activate in Madison County near Nissan, it's time to get yourself and your vehicle protected from hailstones.
Nissan hopes it will save millions of dollars worth of vehicles from hail damage. They won't say what it cost, but admit they won't really know if it works until there is a hail storm over the plant. The sound is produced by igniting the same material used for welding.
This is the first such machine used by an auto-manufacturer. The man who installed it bought a Nissan Pathfinder Armada, which is made at the plant.

I finally looked at the truck today. Nothing!!!! I got to thinking about the marker lights but they were all OK. I did find a couple of rub rashes from driving through the land though. They'll come right off the next it gets detaild by the dealer.
There were reports of baseball sized hail around town that night but I mostly had marble sized and I don't think it's big enough to do anything but sting a little if you get caught out in it.

Interesting. With 66 votes only 13 (20%) voted for something other than "looks/different/like nothing else". That's 80% and after moving a couple "fun" votes I know were made wrong on purpose it's closer to 85% bought their H2 because it's different. That says as much about the buyers as it does about H2s. Obviously we dare to be different and walk to the beat of a different drum. Good for us! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Stumbled across some hail damage today, little bitty in fact. The hail was coming in at about a 60 degree angle due to the wind and was coming from the direction of the driver's side back corner. So apparently some struck the back edge of my plastic grill where it bends around and starts back towards the hood. There is about 4 or 5 places where it chipped that rough edge. Oh well!
