I have some 20" chrome wheels, I used some of that "Temporary Paint" to paint them black today, I want to keep them that way.

What do I need to do to get them painted black? Do I need to sub it out or can I do it myself? If I used regular canned spray paint I assume they would flake after a while but I could just touch them up as needed, right? Will it damage the chrome underneath?

Take it to a powder coater. They will have to remove the chrome, so yes the chrome will be damaged. If you spray paint them... you should scuff up the surface to get the paint to adhere... so either way.. the chrome is screwed.

If your serious about blacking out your chrome, take the rims to a powder coater, they will have to silicone blast you rims to remove the chrome, then they will give them a wash, then prime & powder coat. The powder coating will last for a long time, if taken care of. Make sure you get a good shop to do the work or your just throwing money to the wind!

Cheers.
