So I was at the pearl jam concert in Jersey friday........ come out to find a nice key mark going down side of my truck............................. it''''s not like I said or did anything to anyone to piss them off besides owning a beautiful truck.... To top it all off on sunday when I came out of the movie theatres I catch some drunk ******* messing with my front plates on my truck. I chase the puzzy to his car where his girl is and he bolts away, in a lil **** honda.................... What alarm system do you guys use or recommend? paying 700 for respray every couple months is not fun......................

Ouch! Sometimes I cant believe people..I dont know anything about alarms but I am sure you will find somebody here thats know a bit about them. I'm sorry to hear people keep doing this to your rig. If it was mine I would get some really sensitive alarm that goes off when you simple touch it. (haha)
But anyway, nice rig! She sure is a beauty! :perfect10s:

Maybe try putting NRA stickers and plates.

Or pay some big mo-fo to sit in your truck while you go see movies/concerts/dinner and such.
I bet you'll never get a key job again. :)

Hey Bro,
Sorry to hear about your Rig being keyed. I can't even imagine someone doing that to my Rig.
I can tell you what works for me, but keep in mind my situation is different.
I am a previous Gulf War veteran, and have my VFW plates on my truck along with a sticker of the branch of service I served, USAF.
I find that those who don't like H2, and they are only a few, don't even think to bother my Rig. I guess they figure that because I was in War, I would have no problem shooting them. Just speculation on my part of course.
If you are an ex war veteran, or ex veteran, go out and get yourself a Branch Decal for your Rig. Not only will you limit the keying, but state troopers tend to just give you a warning if they pull you over for speeding.
If you are not a veteran, try the state trooper decal in your state.
Hope this helps.
Regards,

I had an older Viper system on another car. It had a sensitivity setting, but I found at it's most sensitive setting, you could still touch the car without setting off the alarm. It's very difficult to prevent keying unless you stand there and watch it. It could be a diamond ring cut, which is narrower and deeper. I had one of those on the side window of another machine. A good body shop can tell the difference, although the cost to repaint will be the same.

Proxi sensors with a viper alarm and dual battery setup. Isolate the 2nd battery for alarm only. This way the other battery will insure your truck starts at all times. Hook the proxy sensors up to your horn and lights.
That's about the only thing you can do that I'm aware of.
There was a local guy with an H1 here in Denver with those. The roof rack had the sensors setup to turn lights on all around his truck. ...cool!!!

Try the Black widow security system, it offers a remote paging system with extended code jumping technology. I believe the transmitter has a very long range to the paging unit and its compatible with remote start capable vehicles.

As mentioned above, proxy motion detectors are the only way to reduce the amount of people coming close to your car.
I have the Viper along with interior AND exterior motion proxys on my H2. Once a person walks within X amount of feet of the vehicle, the alarm will chirp several times. If the motion persists, after 30 sec, the alarm(loud speaker!) will go full blown and everyone hears it. BUT be warned, you'll get MANY false alarms. Strong wind, heavy rain, heavy snow... this all activates the proxys. Also, with an interior proxy, having your windows down and the alarm activated, a butterfly that might fly in will set it off... keep in mind that sensitivity levels are adjustable.
Now what I do is have and AUX button programmed on my remote that allows me to activate the alarm without the motion proxy.. that way I can judge by the area whether the proxy's are needed or not.
Hope this helps,

I used to love DEI alarms (Viper,Python, etc) but now I recommend Compustar their 2-way is amazing and its has long range almost 2-3X that of DEI.
BUT...none of thse will stop ur car from getting scratched...i had the same problem got scratched...repainted got scratched again left it like this till i catch one of these ****ers so they can pay for it.
But if you want a alarm for security get 2-way Compustar.....DEI used to be amazing until they expanded their business beyond just alarms.
Other then that i would recommend waiting to catch the ****er......or maybe you can figure out a way to shock this ****ers when they touch the car....lolololol:perfect10s:

The problem with the motion sensors is the wind will set them off and stuff. Its hard to get them sensitive enough that it'll pickup people walking by and keying the truck, yet not pickup false alarms every 10 mins when a bird flies by.

I've been keyed too, no alarm is going to prevent it. I think where you park has more to do with being keyed than just about anything else.
Someone isn't going to walk across a long expanse of parking lot to key a car and then walk back, it's usually an impulse thing if they're walking past it or parked next to it.
Of course you can't always park a long ways off and even if you can, it's not a 100% guarantee you won't get keyed. Just remember the World is full of amoral dip****s, and if they decide you're a target, there isn't much you can do to prevent it.
Sure we'd all like to catch them, but it happens in seconds and you'd pretty much have to be there at that exact moment. I for one have better things to do.

A cheap(er) first step is to do what I did. For $35.00 I ordered two "hybrid" badges (for the Toyota Highlander) which fit and look perfect under the "H2" badge on the doors. Now that your H2 is a hybrid, why would they want to key it? The reactions from people are priceless. When people ask about it, I tell them the H2 Hybrid is a special order from the factory and it gets 27 mpg on the highway and about 22 mpg around town. The whole idea so messes with their paradigm of Hummer=Bad they don't know what to do. :notallthere:
