front end noise

does anyone have any input re: in 4hi locked and 4 lo I hear creaking noises from front end. Also, when backing up and turning, like pulling out from parking space, there is a loud creaking sound from front end?

Any help would be appreciated.

And yes, I have heard the obvious "dont back up" and "dont use 4Hi or 4 Lo" from my idiot friends.
