I did the same a few months ago. Very simple to do.
I don't know if they were on back order or what, but it did take over 2 months to receive the disc.
Still very satisfied, free upgrade from GM with the latest NAV disc :perfect10s:

Great, thank you Viet Nam Vette! Just called and went as smooth as you said. The H2 was backordered and she didnt know how long but it'sa comin...
She said it had 15-20% more info (addressses and P.O.I.'s) than last years 2008. My H2 is an '07 and depending when it was made might have came with a '06 disc or an '08... Oh also said I have 2 free updates, so I get the 2010 too...

oh sorry for the misunderstanding, she said it was backordered and did not know when it would ship, but she did take my order and give me a confirmation number and said it will ship to me when they get it...
Also I have no idea if the H2 is different than the H3 disc... I guess we were all just thinking that because the OP said his H3 shipped...

I just called the 1-877 number posted to order my free 2009 update disc for my 2008 H2 SUT. I was told that GM would send it right along just as soon as I sent them $208.00. What's up with that?

The GM Nav disc website says that the offer is only good on 2006 and 2007 GM vehicles. If I want an updated disc for my 2008 H2 SUT, it's $199 plus shipping, or $208.00. I think you can buy a low-end Garmin for about that.

I called that number and I was told that they are available for my 08 H2 at $208 and they could send it as soon as they received payment. I called Lynch, where I bought my H2, and they said there is very little difference between the 08 and new 09 disc, but if I REALLY wanted one, they'd get if for me for free. Good dealers take care of their customers and know with service like that I'll be back!

Just to confirm, all we need is our VIN# and not the code right, as I did not recieve the mailer?
Also, since we are suppose to get 2 free updates (that's what my windown sticker says) and I used only 1 of the free updates so far - is this going to use up any of our free updates?

She asked me if I received a card to which I said NO. I told her I read on the Forum that I should call. She took the VIN, put me on hold and told me I was eligible. She did mumble something about this being my last FREE UPDATE.

I'll run this again.... When I got my post card and called I spoke to a young lady who took my code from the post card and my VIN#. Then she said she would send it out and gave me a confirmation number.
After that I said I would post this info on the HUMMER Forum. I asked her if it was ok to state that if you guys called in that you also would be able to get a free update.
I didn't ask about either H2 or H3. She told me it's ok to post the info and that if the HUMMER owners from the forum called in they would be eligible also to receive a free upgade.
Now as a new HUMMER owner on your first NAV Disc you automaticly get the next years upgrade free. 2008 get's 2009 free and so on. I received my 2007 H3 nav up date in 2008. The next one I would have to buy (2009).
I received the post card saying I was able to get the 2009 free. So I called in and it's on it's way.

Why is it considered a secret, bonus or tip that we are getting these DVD updates? Our darn window stickers said we were to get free updates. On previous year H2s, it said 2 free updates and then later years only stated 1 free update. At first, it was up to the vehicle owner to decide what year they wanted to use one of their updates. Now, they are forcing us to take them before the end of this year or we'll lose our update. For any of you that now how large companies work, that are in financial turmoil - you would know that they are doing this to clear their books before entering the new year. Come on guys, let's get real here: "I used to be able to select the year I wanted my update and now I am forced to take it or lose it!"
In short, they are not doing us any favors, but giving us less flexibility of choice than we had before. They just don't make that many noticable changes on the DVDs from year to year, despite the % of updates they indicate on them. I was not planning on taking my second free update until another year or so.
This program is not anything new and we have posted on it long ago. I had initially published it after beating on GM for a long period to get the process identified for my 2 free updates.

Im not sure if the previous owner got any of the updates, its a 2006 that we picked up used early August of 2007. When we got it the Navi disc was in the box inside the glove compartment, it was scratched to the point where it would read "disc error" so I buffed it with some compound by hand and then used a cleaner wax on it (this works great for scratched discs). It works pretty good but will give the occasional error. DVD's are extremely sensitive to scratches/smudges etc.... and a couple of the scratches were on the deep side. Glad to know Im getting a new fresh disc.
Im shocked the disc had any scratches since the truck was absolutely flawless inside and out when we purchased it. I wont be removing the disc at all since I have ipod integration and have absolutely no need for the disc player.

Is it the 05-06 or the 06-07?

Got home with my new '06 and as I was looking through the paperwork, I noticed the original sticker.
Point is, on the sticker, it said that all owners would receive up to two free updates for their nav system.
So I guess it was GM's plan to always give away at least two updates.... that's cool.

Each vehicle is eligible for up to 2 free upgrade discs. The deadline for the 2009 disc was 12/31.... If you push them a little, they will allow you to get the 2009 upgrade disc but they will count that as your second disc and you will not be eligible for another in the future (I just did this myself and received the 2009 disc today) If you purchased yor Hummer used and it was a certified vehicle, the free disc offer does not apply. This does not make any sense to me but that is their rule~

When I called, they didn't mention anything about a deadline. I didn't ask about it, I simply asked if I was eligible for a free update.
He said yes, however, apparently the original owner asked for his first free upgrade in 11/06. He only bought the damn thing in 05/06!!!!
Freakin' idiot... used up a free update for 6 months of usage.

They took about 3-4 months to send me mine and it was also 4.1, found out it is the incorrect disc which does not work for Hummer. Call them again and the will send you the correct one, 7.3, and schedule a UPS pickup for the old one.
The 4.1 part #20857425U will work with: Cadillac SRX/DTS, Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban, Big K trucks, GMC 900 and possibly other GM vehicles
and the 7.3 part #25956245U is for Chevy Envoy, Colorado, Canyon, Ranier, Rendezvous, Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche, Silverado, GMC sierra, Yukon, Hummer H2, H3, Trailblazer and possibly other GM vehicles
