Discussed many times and I agree we don't buy Hummers for gas mileage. But there's been a lot of questions on whether some of the aftermarket devices increase MPG. I recently installed the Hypertech III and Airaid filter/MIT. Now I'm a very consistant driver. To & from my office every day with few other trips. I don't reset my AMPG everytime I fill up. It's been 8 months since I last set it. My average MPG has been 11.8 and just as important the average speed was 26 MPH. Belive it or not 75% of my daily ride is on the interstate but with our traffic and stop lights long enough to have sex with the wife and still wait for the green (that otta get some comments) it kills the MPH average. I reset everything last Friday. I'm at 12.2 MPG at 24 average MPH. Looks like an improvement but way to early to tell. I'll keep you all posted after a few more fill ups.

Anybody MPG go to hell when it get's very cold out? I was getting 11.2 and for the last few weeks I'm down at 9.1. No change in driving stye either. It's been below freezing here almost every day for about 2 weeks.

When it gets cold the air pressure in your tires goes down, thus causing a slight decrease in MPG. During very hot weather the psi usually goes up quite a bit and while it gives you a little boost in MPG it will also cause the center of the tread to wear faster.
Checking your tire psi should be done on a routine basis not only for optimum mpg but to ensure even wear on the treads.

And no comment about the sex at the stop light??? DRTY..you're losing your image. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif 12.5 MPG @ 25 AMPH after arriving at office. Still looks like an improvement. Of course it will take 25,000 miles to break even!

Sorry, but I need a lot more time than that. Besides, I would take her in the back, put the seats down and really give the air suspension a work out.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

To continue with the public service message, colder air is much more dense and therefore, with the H2 being as aero as a brick, it takes more power to push through.
PLUS, they add some **** to gas in the winter, who knows what that does.
ummm.........let's see........ well, it's colder so the grease and oil is less efficient at reducing friction.
ok...ok.... you have more clothes on in the winter and that adds extra weight.
one more.....hmmm..... well..... the days are shorter and you use your lights more which draws more energy from the alternator which in turn takes more fuel.

I think they ship out crappy gas in the winter.
Prices went from $1.58 to $1.75 in 2 weeks. WTF???? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I am afraid to check mine lately, we have had highs in the -5 to -10 range the last week or so and the lows have been from -15 to -25 I am sure that kicked it in the ass a little.

Don't get me wrong here, I think $1.75 is more than reasonable, and I think your situation definitely sucks. I'm just trying to figure out the 20-cent price jump in a 2 week span - haven't heard anything about the Saudis screwing with oil production, and it's not heavy road-trip season. Just didn't make a lot of sense for prices to skyrocket all of a sudden.

Stacy it has been wierd. last week I had a full tank and the next day I'm driving by stations showng $1.57. I think alright it is getting reasonable. I went home that night and by the next evening I'm driving by same gas stations as I go thru town and the price is $1.75. I've asked out of curiousity and not a person knows or has heard anything. Usually see bad news reports and then You can say OH well here it comes.

Semi-final report. As of this morning 13.1 mpg @ 26 amph. I don't see it improving much more. That's a 1.3 mpg improvement at a cost of $576 for the Airaid Jr & Hypertech III. Add'l benefit is a bit better performance. You'll have to draw your own conclusions. I'll post a long term report later.

I was at 10.2 for the longest time and recently dropped to about 9.7. I also attribute the drop in mileage to both the colder weather and whatever they are adding to the gasoline for the winter.
Still at 11.3. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Of course I have about 150 miles on it over the past 3 months. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Just trying to avoid the gasoline additives. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

MPG has ticked up to 13.3 @ 27 AMPH. A little of that incrase has to come from the 27 AMPH but I'm surprised. That's a 1.5 mpg increase. Gee, at this rate I might get my money back in 24K rather than 25K miles! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Sort of final report. After 3 tanks of gas the mileage has settled down to 12.7 MPG. That's a .9 MPG increase.

las vegas. thanks for sharing that info. My h2 also says 11.8 mpg. , i dont know how or what all those buttons do , so i have never reset it that i know of. I might try those items and see if i get the same results. Thanks

Dug3x3 if you cycle the lowest button on the left side of the steering wheel you can put it in average mpg or instant(inst)mpg. the one right above it cycles the odom, trip
Thanks yetti , i got to spend some time in there playing with the buttons. I just never figure things out like that. I get amazed at my friends that can enter phone #'s into there cell phone , or figure out their cd player. It just seems that about the time i figure i'll spend some time learning how to use something , i usually lose or break it and need to buy a new whatever it is and learn all over.

Drove from PDX to Northern CA taking the I-5 to 58 to 97 route. Average on the way down was 12.1. On the way back... drum roll please... 14.5.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif But I drove like I was Driving Miss Daisy(60-70). No racing(and killing) every one(except those that would obviously kill me) that wanted to pass me. It's amazing some of the scenery and stuff that I've been missing when "racing".http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Did they change the DIC on the O5 Models, when I cycle through my lower left button, I get Avg MPH only, no inst mph. I had this on my 03 Escalade, I figured they didn't put this on H2 becuase it was poor. I also have Engine hours, do we know why they added this?

I went down to Los Angeles through the I-5 from the Bay Area, I was driving 70 and getting 8.2 mpg. On the way back I was doing 80 and it went down to 6.1 mpg. The 395 miles one way back cost me $158 @$2.45 a premium gallon-ouch. Got to love the supercharger.
Can't wait for the norcalhummergroup happening at Truckee next weekend.
