View Full Version : how can I best get my ipod\iphone to work with my H2

I do not have the navigation in my 06 SUT if that matters. The only real dissapointment I have with my Hummer is that I cant easily connect my
Iphone\ipod to the stereo. All my fricken songs are on that thing. The 6 disk cd changer is nice, but soooo 1998. Ipods have been around forever, and even some of these little 14k dollar cars have it built right in! But NOT my H2?
Can anyone share their stories or setups. Is it true that no matter what I will lose control on the steering wheel settings if I change out the unit?
any help or ideas appreciated...

I ended up buying this model (since I have an 08 w/Nav) ? it works great. I can control it with my touch screen as well as my steering wheel controls. The best thing is my ipod is resting in my glove box. Obviously, getting any adaptor that is integrated is the most important necessity.

I know the other adaptors work as well?the only one that has been an issue is that Nucleus. Some members have had some dash lights flashing from time to time.

forgot to mention-my adaptor as well as others plug into the back of the OEM headunit.
Do you have SAT on your SUT? what year is your truck?
Here's something that could work.

oh, sorry, i forgot. I have an iphone as my ipod. So, in general i dont want
or need to hide it away, I already have a nice mini mount just to the right of my right hand on the steering wheel, partially covering the 'different 4 wheel drive setting buttons' (sorry, im not an 'offroader' and am not familiar with the names of those capabilities)

thanks for all the links, i have reviewed all of them. (when im not so swamped here at work -at home- I will take the time to look up posts on my own.
unless I am missing something, I still dont know what to get. The unit for your '08 is ideal. Cant tell if my 06 NON nav unit will work with it. And that
'nucleus' scares me with the dash issue.
Crutchfield looks like a great resource. Can BestBuy handle this type of thing
I wonder.

You hook up the usb stick or iphone on the plugin which we hid in the glove compartment.
Sounds excellent !

Check out Pioneer's AVIC series. I have the AVIC-Z2 and I use my iPhone as an iPod all the time. Plus the navigation is better than just about anything else I've seen on the market,.
I use my steering wheel controls for volume and the rest is touch screen on the Z2. I also have the Bluetooth connector, the On-Star bypass, and the Sirius Sat Radio module.
Awesome system!
