Took the family camping at Carolina Beach this last weekend. While everyone was airing down to 10lbs, I just drove through the sand with no effort.

I pulled out 3 stuck trucks and had to drag a 2WD toyota pickup from one end to the end.

I even had the chance to use my winch again...lol. A buddy of mine on here (ttkresurfacing, Tim) teases me that I spent roughly 1400 for my winch setup.

Every time I use it, the cost per use goes down. I think I'm down to a few hundred dollars per use.

That was, until Tim's trailer came off his Yukon and left his Yukon halfway in the ditch and the trailer was stuck.

I'm officially down to a hundred bucks per use thanks to Tim... :fdance:

Anyway, she rolled though it like it wasn't even there. No locking in anything, no airing anything down, just dropping it into 3rd gear and drive.

Gotta love the hummer.

That sounds awesome!
now......... pardon my stupidity.... but I know nothing about winches and I would love to have one... But are they that reliable? you can only use them only that many times until they go to sh*t?

No, it's because they are a high cost/low use item. It's a way to justify the want to have one.

I think that you should charge the person being winched until it truely does pay for itself! :fdance: Sounds like a fun weekend!

He was so excited to do it that he dropped all his work and I could hear the tires squealing as he left. He'd probably have paid to do it. :)

No ****, I should have... the last guy I towed, I used a strap that made it within 10 feet of the pavement and it was cut by his aftermarket ghetto grille.

End result, I used my gas and time to pull him to safety and all I got was the chance to go buy another 30 dollar strap.

You'd think the guy would have at least offered to buy me a new strap.

You would think he would have at least done that! When i first got my rig i was leaving a seafood festival and noticed a Merecedes SUV stuck. Of course as a new Hummer owner i jumped at the oppertunity to pull this guy out(and of course he said i coudlnt do it)....when he was on pavement i had to turn down his $100 offer multiple times....thats the way it should be.

Since then, i have rescued many women drivers who dont realize its not a good ideal to park a 2wheel drive vehicle on sand...all of which have been very appreciative.
