So one of my hood cables on my 05 H2 snapped and the dealer wants $150 to replace it. I find it hard to believe a steel cable about 1ft long costs $150!??!?!
I remember a GM website for H2 parts that was a bit more responable, but I can't seem to find it in the forum search.
Any recommendations? Any ideas on where I can pickup a used one for cheap?
Thanks in advance.

Am I looking at this diagram right, it's the check cable:

GM PART # 15146196 $18.66 from GMPARTSDIRECT
I just got one installed at dealer $38.41 for part $66.01 installed. It was in for service so I just let them do it, some things are just easier to pay for. Mine is a 2004 but they replaced it without the rubber sleeve that seems to be causing the rust/breakage. I think I will order one for $18 and replace the other one before it breaks. ;)
Ok so with shipping and Handling and tax it is $33.06 so the dealer isn't that high. It was a GMC dealer, labor rate is $92 per hour. It is also a special order item and non-returnable. Geez.

They must have looked up the wrong part. I had one cable replaced at the dealer two years ago and looking at my Hummer file it was $27.45 for the cable and $30.00 for the labor at a Hummer dealership.

Go to Ace hardware buy some cable and a clamp for around 5 bucks takes about 5 min. to fix
All your "Man cards" should be handed in at the end of the day.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I've ordered the parts (2 hood cables - figured the other one would go shortly too) and I'll get them installed. I'd do the cable myself, but given I travel almost 100% for my job, I'd rather not deal with it.
So I'll save my 'Man Card' for bars and bitches ;)
