Now that Hummer is being discontinued my brother wants to buy an H2. I told him to look for a one owner machine and get a PPI. After browsing the boards he was amazed that the main problems are with earlier model instrument clusters and ignition switches and the transmission radiator cooling failures (according to my dealer those are EXTREMELY rare). The cylinder head problems on the H3 I5 are well documented but nothing like that has ever affected the H2. He was amazed at the lack of engine and accessory complaints and maybe we just take the reliability of these overbuilt vehicles for granted. That's especially significant when you consider most forums get a lot of the "gripers."

Yep, My 04 had a bad ignition and the instrument cluster is still f'd up. But other than that it has been trouble free, but then again. I have been driving GM vehicles for 27 years and never had anything but minor problems. I have owned pontiac, buick, gmc, chevrolet, cadillac and 3 Hummers. GM has built some ****ty vehicles over the years but overall I still believe that GM builds the best vehicles on the road today and I expected no less on my 03 and 04 H2's. Most dealerships suck though!

Other than a chaffed wire on my 2008, i've had not a single problem with the three H2's. My dad did have an issue with his 2008 and it was traced back to that hot shot system, once the fused was pulled on that, the issues went away. They are basically bullet proof machines over built for what many of us use them for. But its there if we need it!
