Hey Guys I contacted Ben over at True Projector Headlights and he is willing to do a Group Buy Discount for their HID Projector Kits. They have two different models, Modern or Classic:

http://www.trueprojectorheadlights.com/classic-headlights.html
http://www.trueprojectorheadlights.com/modern-headlights.html

As you can see these are real replacements for headlights and are not just HID conversion with only bulbs. They include all ballast, lens, housing, bulbs etc. He let me know the Classic won?t be back in stock till Dec 15th. The H6024 Projector housing should fit our truck. He has had a couple customers install them on their H2's but has not seen them in person, so he stated he does not know 100% if they fit without any modification. I called around and researched that projector housing and it should fit without any problems. If anyone has installed these please speak up!

He is willing to sell them for $300 with free Shipping!!! if we can get at least 10 orders. You can buy either modern or classic for this special pricing.

Let me know if this perks anyone's interest

wow- that's a fraction of what I paid for my Starr HIDs.

I wonder if you can adjust these beams like you can with Starr's.

Either way, very affordable for the projector and HIDs.

Hey guys sorry it took me a while to post again, have been super busy at work. I was thinking would you guys want me to order a set, test it out, and if all good we can get a group order in to get our discount????

They do have adjustable light focus.

Also check this out for the Modern HID Set..... You can order these as well from Retro Solutions to make the Ring around the Lens Functional!!!!!
I think that would make the modern set Bad azz!

if you want to test them out, im sure everyone would be appreciative on how it looks.

me im ready to order as long as i get a more positive answer as to if they will fit 100% without any modifications.

ill also pick up the halos as well as they are only $28

it seems we have enough interest on these... i think the next step is to iron out the details and get these ordered.

If you are going to order.. ill gladly wait until you get yours in, and installed to see how everything goes.

Yes he can ship to Canada or anywhere No problem. He just asked when it?s time to contact him personally thru email to arrange shipping details to Up North.

Also he let me know that the Modern HID set will be $300 but due to cost the classic will be $325, i let him know most of us want the Modern anyways.

I will take pictures of the install for sure whenever i receive the kit.

Hey Guys just some info i wanted to relay that i just found out, The Modern Headlights are not DOT approved but the Classic Headlights are Sae/Dot approved. So if anyone is worried about legality issues, the classic is prob the way to go. Also if these end up not fitting or don?t work for whatever reason, has anyone had experience with the Truck-Lite LED Headlights???

I dont think they are a bad option for improvement over stock headlights plus they are DOT/SAE legal. Plus the guys at Predator Motorsports raved about them when i called them. They said with the failure rates of HID and having ballast etc, these plug right into stock harness and no ballast. Ive read mixed reviews but not a bad alternative i think.

Hi thats why i didn't buy his modern lights because they are not DOT i bought starr hid lights and i was thinking about the classic lights for my Harleys. The led could be great, but I deal with led lights on transit buses everyday some are good and some are crap. Plus if the LED burns out on the road your screwed their is no bulb to replace and if one burns out you may only be able to buy them in pairs. LED lights do draw way less amps but some are made cheap and don't last like they should i don't know about the ones your talking about. I have Starr HID headlights in my truck and i keep a spare ballast and bulb with me in the truck so no problems on the road with my HID lights. Starr uses phillps ballast and bulbs that are the best HID products out at this time but i keep spare stuff just in case. I would think the phillips stuff will last from 3 to 5 years but you never know. Thanks for the update.

Screw it. I'd buy them anyway.. The modern lights are so similar to the projector ones sold that are DOT approved. So long as you aim them correctly I highly doubt that you'll get some sort of fine.

Hey guys I put my order in for the Classic headlights. They will ship DEC 15th. The only difference between the modern headlight and the classic headlight is the classic headlight has a daytime running lamp. Ben said he does not know why that is such a big issue anf the classic are dot and the modern are not. He said they're working on dot aproval for the modern. It is virtually the same as classic except the drl. Adjustablity, size, lens size, how far it protrudes is exactly the same. I am playing it safe and ordering the classics, but i do know the moderns are in stock.

I will update once I get them in. I told him if they suck or any issues with install, we will cancel group buy!

Why not stop at Mcdonalds and after you get done eating that burger just drop the bag and the wrapper on the road because you do not have a trash bag on the Harley. Hey guys here is an update for what?s going. I talked to Ben today. The Classic Headlights shipment is being held up in Customs for a week. So that means they were originally supposed to ship today, but now there is a week delay.

The moderns are in so i am going to just switch my order to them. They will be shipped out today. If these fit and everything is ok, would anyone be interested in buying the Modern Set from me since i really want the Classics since they are DOT compliant???

Ben stated it?s hard to sell a used pair as new if i returned the Moderns so i figured someone on here would snatch them up and i would then just go and buy the Classics later when they are in.

I should have them next tues or weds and ill install them that night.

I also bought 9007 to H4 adapters incase i need it for the wiring and trying to cover all anticipated snags. Not sure if it?s needed, but i want to cover all bases. If these work, it is a hell of a buy even if you might need the adapter as the closest HIDs are 700 dollars more.

HUMMERICH23
12-28-2010, 05:38 AM
Hey Guys sorry for delay, got busy with the Holiday,

Here goes....

You will have to remove your grill to access and remove stock headlight.
The Headlight will fit but will need slight modification to the housing by way of dermal or similar device to make room for wiring (See Pic 2). You will also need an adapter 9007 to H4 (See Pic 3/4), other than that wiring is straight forward and works for both low and high beam.

The light distribution is good and is very bright but does have a very distinct cut off as seen in the photos. I did have the headlight in the stock housing with pics from last week but somehow my Droid X did not save them so i just took these tonight of the light pattern.

I am sending back my Moderns tomorrow and having the Classics sent out which are now in stock. If you are handy it shouldn?t be a problem to install these... you definitely will need the 9007/H4 adapter and some modification to the housing.

I got my adapter kit from Summit Racing and is made by Delta and they are the only ones who make a direct adapter for a Hummer H2. This should work too... http://www.teakatoys.com/HUMMER_H2_SUT_LED_High_Low_Head_Lamps_Headlamp_A_p /tl-96630.htm

If you guys still want to do group buy, let me know and i will have him set up that special website for us. I know the adapter is an added cost so just give me a general consensus of what you guys think.

HUMMERICH23

The classics look very nice and have no problem fitting as you can see. They look pretty sweet. The light was ok but i was a little underwhelmed when driving with their performance. I talked to Ben and we did an experiment by me using my 55 watt ballast that i already had instead of the 35 watt that came with the set. As you can see from the 5th picture down, the LHL had 55watt ballast vs RHL with 35 watt. The 6th picture down has both headlights with 55watt Ballast. I think these headlights def need the 55watt ballast to put enough light to be good. The HID light was supposed to be 6000k but they were way too blue when driving and were not good especially with snow around. I think the HIDs i got were actually more 10000k. When i was testing them briefly last night it was snowing and the headlights got covered with snow and alot of the light was blocked and it seemed like i had no headlights. I had to flip on my Rigid LEDs which kick ass! I feel like the Modern HIDs i had first had a bigger lens and the light output seemed stronger. As stated before my motivation for the Classics were they are DOT approved.
What i learned is they 100% DO FIT, you need H4-9007 Adapter and I think you need a 55 watt ballast to be considered good for the classics. If you don’t care about DOT compliance, then i think Moderns are the way to go. Obviously the color does matter of the light, 5000-6000k being the ideal colors. I am undecided if i am going to keep these or return them. I am not crazy about having to modify them to make them good. Please message me with any questions.

So for anyone wondering or thinking, the Group Buy is definitely still a go if there is enough interest. The Moderns are definitely good and available. You can order them in Flat Black or High Gloss. We are working on upgrading the Classics . The Classics are completely brand new and I was like one of first to test them out. Ben is getting a package together for me to test which includes 5000k Light, 55 watt ballast and we are replacing the headlights I got as the lens in the left Headlight was possibly defective from manufacture. I am going to work with him and give this upgrade a shot. If this works which i am sure it will, then we would have a special Hummer Package available to us when we order with 55 Watt Ballast. If you intend on getting a set, would you guys want the H4 Adapter included or would you guys just buy on your own? You can PM or reply to get an idea of how many still want the Moderns or want to hold out till I test upgraded Classics.

I know this has taken some time and trust me I just want a darn set now and be done with it, but I want to make sure everything is right. Anything is better than the putrid stock halogens, so i really want to work to make this right.

Interesting, let us know how it works out!

For those still interested in group buy, would you guys feel more comfortable or want Ben from TrueProjectorHeadlights to come on forum and answer any questions or get things rolling for buy? I know as stated before the Moderns are very good and Classics just need to be ordered with 55 watt Ballast as their light output was very very good with the higer powered ballast vs 35watt. I was dissapointed at first with lightout put of classics but during testing the 55 watt made a world of difference. Let me know and i can get him on here to help out.

So can we still order the "modern" version? Its basically the same thing with a led ring around the projector right? I have HID's in the stock lamps and i think i've finally blinded all of my neighbors so it's time to switch it up. LOL. Can they be ordered with a 55W bulb? I'd like to order a set asap! I really don't care so long as they work.. What was the hang up with the modern version again?? The classics look pretty good on your truck so I'm in for either.. Let's get it rolling.

HUMMERICH23
01-26-2011, 04:43 PM
You can Order either Set with an upgraded Ballast of 55watt or keep the orginal ballast of 35watt. The Moderns are great and the classics need the upgraded ballast for sure. I currently have the classics with 55watt ballast and am waiting for a 5000k bulb to be dropped shipped to test out. I personally perfer the pure white color vs a tint of blue that 6000ks give and i think for weather we get here in cleveland the 5000k is better. I recently also bought a pair of moderns as well.

I also had HID bulbs in stock headlights, and while the light was amazing , it was highly illegal and i blinded everyone. What i did to really appreciate HIDs in general was put stock halogens back in for a few days and its like you dont even have headlights. These headlights do a good job of putting the light to the road, they are not going to light up everything a mile wide infront of you, but that is why we have all our off road lights for that. They are flat out better than stock and for 300ish if we do group buy or 365 if you buy on own, i think its best bet to upgrade to HIDs and staying pretty much legal and not blinding everyone.

Richard,

How do you like those rigid LEDs? Why did you choose the spot beam over the flood beam?

Can you post a night time picture maybe with the regular headlights on with the LEDs at the same time and maybe a picture of just the LEDs on the road at night? Thanks!

For those waiting to see MODERNS installed, here they are, Just swapped out my classics for MODERNS. They are really growing on me now and i think they have better spread of light! I have 55w ballast with 5000k Bulb in them. I dont have any night shots yet as it is just turning dark here now.

I'm not sure if I like the bug eyed look of the modern style so I'm going with the classics with 55W ballast and 6000K bulb.

Sorry to revive an old thread but did this ever happen? I'm looking for a HID upgrade for my 2005.
