View Full Version : SUT to Yukon Denali
Well finally decided to let go of one of the Hummers. Sold my H2 SUT and bought the Denali. I do like the towing capacity and the 6.2, but need to see how it holds up on daily use. I will have to see how my thoughts are after a few months of driving.

Hows the body roll in turns on that thing?
The real question should be hows the "FUEL ECONOMY"? I havn't noticed any body roll but then again I havn't really tried to see how fast it takes corners either. But it is a softer ride than was the SUT. It has good power though. Its still not my favorite but there just doesn't seem much on the market that interests me at this time. I just wanted to have something to pull the boat with.

You will love the power, the 6.2 is wonderful. But you're not gonna get great mileage..you might if you really keep your foot out of it. But the Denali is a very nice ride.

i love the denalis. great trucks. my grandpa had an escalade and it held up great. he is very rough on his cars. my mom had a yukon with the 5.3 but as far as cosmetically and interior, they hold up great.
With all that engine you have to know it needs exercised!:D :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

You will likely see another 1-2 mpg's city and 3-4 highway. The Denali is on a 1/2 ton chassis vs. 3/4 ton, is more aerodynamic and lower to the ground. I have a couple of friends with the late model (6.2L 6speed) Denalis and Escalades and this is based off the mileage they are getting.
All in all I really missed selling the SUT and it was "almost" like loosing a kid but I still have my other one so that made it easier. Just hope that over time I don't regret the decision. The H2's are getting harder to find.. '"Wife's" you can't live with them and you can't live without them! now you know the rest of the story...;)

My shop keeps a 2012 Tahoe with the 6.2 in it for rental when cars are getting repaired. Great vehicle but damn, it only gets 12 mpg.
The ironic part is I have been flipped off for driving an H2 because of the crappy gas mileage but I've never seen anyone flip off an Excursion, Tahoe or Escalade...lol.
Enjoy your new ride, it may not be your H2 but that's still a cool ride.

I have a Denali as my daily driver and save the Hummer for the weekends. I have had no problems with my Denali in the 3 years I have owned it. Holds up great, drives great in all conditions even off road, and is a smoother and quieter ride. I don't regret buying it and have no plans to get rid of it.

Opps, am I mistaken? I thought all the new Tahoes had the 6.2 now instead of the 6.0?s? No?
It?s one we keep for a rental but in either case, it?s only getting like 12 mpg on the highway.
Out of curiosity, I?ll check it now. Sorry if I assumed....

This had caught my attention from what I had read, but after some rechecking there is only the 5.3 ltr even in LTZ trim, wow!

Dude, when it comes to HUMMER's, and my wife understands this clearly, I could live without the wife! I might miss her, sure, but there are some compromises that have to be made!
I still don't understand why she thinks I'm a dick...

As someone that traded my SUT off exactly one year ago this week for a Tahoe LTZ, I am still in super regret mode... Why didn't anyone :twak: me!
Part of my job requires lots of driving (35k/yr.), and the LTZ is nice enough to drive, but comparing it to the H2, - the seats suck, visibility sucks, I only get 2-3 more mpg, the 5.3 feels like it has less power than the 6.0 regardless of vehicle weight, chicks don't dig it, and it looks like every other damn "soccer mom" ride. The only things I like better about the Tahoe are the radio/navigation/back-up camera, it doesn't stand out on the highway from the state troopers and the interior doesn't squeek to high heaven. I won't even comment on snow/ice/mud and rain.
I'm really considering selling the LTZ for a low mileage '07 Yellow... Not that I have been looking or anything...

I have an 09 H2 and my plans are to keep it for as long as it will run.

:iagree: I did the same thing last year this time and sold my 07 SUT for a LTZ Avalanche.....................by april I had enough and the Ave' was gone and a 08 SUV with 10,xxx miles was back in my driveway. There isn't anything left that compares with the H2. I almost got caught again by the "YearEnd" dealers trying to grab my H2 but came to my senses. The Denali drives beautifully, but the way you sit in it and the size of the seats just don't do it any justice. I worry about the parts for the H2 sometimes...............
Merry Christmas

I'm driving an '07 now, but have been looking at '08-'09's anytime I can find them. From what I hear, the interior door panel squeeking has been taken care of with a much better quality interior redo in the newer 2's. Nav & backup cam can be had in another one.
I never understood why my H3 had a MUCH more refined interior that the deuce--I really liked the Moroccan trim and it didn't squeek! The deuce has a nicer overall interior with super nice leather, but leaves some to be desired. One of my dealer literature books states they were looking forward to an Alpha H2, I think the interior would have been really nice if that would have happened.

My local service manager advised me a couple years ago to actually stay away from the newer models. He said the new transmissions weren't as great as they had hoped, and certain things on the interior, like the air vents, broke if you just looked at them wrong. He basically said they weren't worth trading up for.

I agree 100% that the seats suck in the 07+ Tahoe, Yukon, escalades. I love my 07 hummer seats. The 6.2 sounds great though. As far as getting rid of a hummer for and other gm suv..... I can't do it. Ive had tahoes and escalades. Drove all models. We and old. Pickup is great on the escalades and denalis. But you can't beat a hummer I the snow.
