GM dealer in my area said they do not work on HUMMERs anymore.I need a quality Service Technician in Western Massachusetts.I have a 2005 HUMMER that just failed inspection due to a Parking-Brake that doesn't hold and left front suspension ( front wheel bearing ) needs to be checked. Is this normal wear and tear? It hasn't seen Off-road yet and it only has 60K miles.

Found one. Long Cadillac Saab dealer in Southborough,MA used to sell HUMMERS and still has all of their Hummer Techs there. It'll be a 60 mile drive but well worth the trip to know that I will be putting my truck into the hands of someone who the truck and not someone who is admiring it thinking "Where does this go".:jump: :fdance: :D

Our deuce just went out of warranty and the closest dealer (Chevy, not Cadillac) is about 23 miles away.
My game plan is to take the truck to our local transmission/service shop here in town. I had this guy rebuild my old truck tranny when he opened his shop over ten years ago, and I liked the guys work ethic. I figure I'll give his shop my business unless they give me reason not to trust them. I plan on letting them take care of all of our cars maintenance needs from fluid changes to any big stuff.
I'm just really tired of having to travel to get my junk fixed.

We have a local garage that does the work on my other truck's extended warranty and since they do a great job on it we figured why not.

They have been reasonable on parts and labor and even let us bring our parts in to save even more money, so far we can not complain.

Our local stealership was the first choice since they are a Chevy / GMC but at $79.95 to pull it in the garage for diagnosis not any more.

My local Chevrolet shop...used to be a performance Chevy (Corvette), Hummer, Lotus dealer.

...but I've gotten bids for work from the Buick/GMC dealer too. I'd think any GM dealer would do the work...it's all GM parts. I'd definitely try to target a dealership that used to be Hummer though. Knowledge of the subtleties of the these trucks will save on some labor hours.

yeah , i dont fet why a gm dealer wouldnt do it. i have stopped taken mine to one though except for services. anything else i try to get done by a independent shop, they do a great job most the time at half the price. and when you know them you can be sure they will take care of your ride. i would try and find a independent if you can and become good friends with him

Thanks guys,I'm going to a former HUMMER dealership that sells Cadillac and Saabs. It feels good to be able to pull into a service center and see other HUMMERs on the lot as well for servicing. It's just that a 120 mile round trip to get servicing is :notallthere: and bring :crying: to my eyes.

a lot of your small town dealers (even if they are actually big) are really to uptight about what they work on, I hate going into the city but I've always went to Hendrick Cadillac, Formally including Saab, Formally including HUMMER. The people their are some of the best people I've had the pleasure to work with, they don't give you a rash of sh** as if your ignorant to even the most basic things. Their prices are sky high but then again I do 95% of my own work unless I'm covered by warranty (which I am).

Obviously this post does no good for you since I'm in NC, but... jus sayin.

I just took my H2 SUT to my local Chevy dealer. I just drove in, gave them my info, told them what was wrong and was out the door in 10 mins. Was not turned down at all.

I take my Hummer to the local GM Cadillac dealership. The one time they kept it overnight for a new fuel tank sender they gave me a free Escalade loaner. Two of the technicians/mechanics there are from our old Hummer dealership.

$1500 OUCH! Ask around and try to find yourself an independent shop for things you don't feel comfortable working on. That seems a tad pricey for what you had fixed. Hubs are a bitch though.

I do the same - the dealer where I bought the truck from. The biggest sell is that they have all the parts in stock. I've heard horror stories of 3 week waits for some "general garages" who are resorting to buying off of Ebay. No thanks.

Ours does the Escalade loaners too. And free delivery. :) When the pitman arm broke on my H2, they drove that loaner 1.5 hrs out to my house. Love it. :)
