Help with tire rack

[H-Too]

I would really like to put the spare up on the roof to clear some major cargo space.

However, I think 14-17 hundred dollars for a rack is a major rip-off.

Anyone have any suggestions on a less expensive/ridiculous option of getting that tire up on the roof?

If you're not doing a lot of off-roading, just leave it in your garage and get a tire repair kit...and AAA membership/onstar http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I've seen one guy just strap the tire to his roof between the rails when he goes on trips...I have mine mounted on the back...only cost $500 for that..

The bottom line is this, if you want to mount it on the roof it is going to cost over a thousand dollars. If you insist on going "cheap" then you will have to settle for either;
1)leaving it in the back where it is
2)putting it in your garage
3)buying a rear bumper mount tire carrier
Also, if you are thinking about strapping it to your roof racks, it will most likely wind up killing someone when it comes off and is bouncing down the highway and crashes through someone's windshield.
Did you actually think that any of the accessories for these vehicles were going to be reasonably priced? You may be in over your head.

Anyway, I did my homework like you said, and I want to race you in your 350Z. My '80 L82 Vette vs. your Z. Unfortunately, new cams, headers, and exhaust, and you might still beat me. The 80 Vette was slow (220hp stock!) because of major fed regs back then.

I didn't get on here to get things going again. I just wanted to make peace with the person I actually started with. Everyone else jumped on ME.

I think if you stick around, since you aplogized, I think you will get a lot out of this board as most everyone else does. Lot's of trolls around and coming in with a "touchy" post, things get ugly, but they didn't really get all that bad. I'VE SEEN WAY BETTER!
