Could someone who owns a stock truck take a measurement for me - from the ground to the center of the headlight? I'm pretty sure my new lift will be outside TX lift laws (54" max), but the shop says it will be fine. I'd like to be proactive such that I might get it back before August. Thanks!

Your going to have a whole lot of other problems to worry about if you run across some authority thats going to ticket you for headlight height.

If their that pissed off at you, that wont be the only ticket you get....Any cop can come up w/ some violation ticket on any vehicle if they want.

If you do ever get a ticket, I bet the ticket is under $100 or fix it and dismiss. No sence is spending money that doesn't need to be spent. Run it...if someone gives you ****, then spend the money.

Yep, if they want you for something or the city needs revenue, they're going to stop you for something in a Hummer. I haven't had a front plate on any of my Hummers for eight years and no problem until last week when I got pulled over for no front plate. I told him it must have fallen off and I hadn't noticed and he gave me a warning. He gave my front end a good looking over and asked me if the suspension was stock. I said yes and he said he had never noticed how much ground clearance H2s had. Maybe he was having a slow day and wanted to talk Hummers. I don't run front plates on my Corvette either, but I carry the plate behind the passenger seat, because even more so than the Hummer, I think they spoil the looks.

I'm not concerned about getting pulled over. I'm more concerned about passing inspection in 2 months. They DO measure at inspection stations here.

There's alot of H2 guys across the forums in texas w/ lifts.

There are 4 other hummer forum sites. Atleast 3 of them have regional sub forums. Id post in the texas forum to see what other owners w/ lifts are doing in texas.

Id post the links but the forums software will just strip out the url.

I remember reading about someone turning their DRL's into their headlights. It was pretty significant mod, they cut the holes bigger and installed real headlights in there. I don't remember what was involved as far as what's behind the DRL's that could be a problem, etc etc.

Why not just put a bunch of heavy sand bags in the truck when you take it to be inspected to lower it that way.
