Just wanted to let everyone know how superior the Diab Lew tune is over the Diablo tune that comes on the tuner.
We tweaked my tunes a total of four times, and each time it got that much better.
He was very patient, listened well, and was open to tweaking the last tune to help get some low end grunt back that had disappeared from the first tune he did.
He also gave me a 92 octane tune, which I've yet to try.
Outcome of tune, customer service, Lew's knowledge, the ability to tweak the tunes for months to come makes, IMO, Lew's services worth more than the POS, only half the features are enabled, tuner that will now sit on my desk until the rare instance I need to read a code. Pricing should be reversed.
Definitely would recommend him.
My Hummer is a completely different truck.
Long tubes didn't hurt any either. :D

Those handhelds are pretty worthless as far as I'm concerned. Custom tuning is the way to go.

To get the custom Diab Lew tune you have to have the programmer.

Right, but you can always look for a local tuner, send yours out, or put down a secure deposit and have an ecm mailed to you immediately and send your stock unit back.

Gotcha.... and I'll eat some words here.
That's one thing that's nice about the programmer is it's very easy to tweak the tune, go stock for a trip to the dealer, etc....... I explored the options and this was the best way for me to go.

i always thought about picking up an extra PCM from ebay and having it flashed to stock tune.
already once i have "fried" my PCM with my tuner that i had to send it to Diablo and they reflashed it. i was without my H2 for 10 days total, and about $150 total for a tuner upgrade and shipping.
i have seen PCMs for about $200 ish.
plus if you ever need to send your PCM in to get flashed for a tune, atleast you would still be able to drive.

If you look at some of the larger auto parts recyclers they sometimes have flat rate fees set by the part no matter what mfg or model....get some good deals. You have to pull the parts yourself. I swear my local Lkq does ecms for $75 or $100.

After all the mods I'm up a solid 2 MPG.

Did you notice the MPG increase after the tune or progressively with your other mods?

So PDX, Im rocking a superchips tuner now and am very interested in your setup as it sounds like your custom tune is way better than the tuner performance tunes- am I hearing this right?
If so, I may be really interested in going this route. What are the steps here: buy the tuner, then call this guy Lou? Let me know a little more detail as to hwo I can go about taking this route. Also, how will he be able to tune my vehicle if he is not here where I live?
Just wondering if this is doable....
Thanks in advance for any details.

Ya the Diablosport comes with a canned tune in it and compared to the Lew tune it's garbage.
Here's Lew's website - http://www.diablewtune.com/
You can buy the programer and tune package direct from him and save a few bucks.
He's done enough GM vehicles to know what needs to be done in terms of tune adjustments.
He'll give you a starter tune and you'll drive on it for about 100 miles. Then you'll do a log while driving, send it to Lew and he'll tweak it accordingly. He says it usually takes him 3-4 tweaks. It took him 4 tweaks to get mine dialed.
This is by far the best thing I did to my truck a side from the long tube headers. Those two mods make it an entirely different truck. You got the headers, if you're not happy with it you could benefit from the Lew tune.
I can't see being any happier until the next level of mods, engine work or a blower.
It really did dial the truck in very nicely.
Let us know how it turns out!
