GM should not have made such an ugly mirror in the first place for a great machine like the Hummer.
Can you get a Wash rag in between the mirror and the door? It looks pretty close.

Doubtful, you would wear it off quite fast from repeated use. I would just have your handles PC'ed, it could easily be done in a few hours including prepping them.
