Earlier this year I bought some GM stock. Lots of reasons why, but Hummer was what pushed me over the fence. When looking just at the Hummer line, I wouldn't be surprised if GM will eventually flood the market with H3s, 4s, 8s, etc., and while this may not be what all Hummer owners want, over that period GM will rack up nice profits and GM shareholders will be happy. In the mean time GM will be looking into introducing new lines of cars to find the next success, which is the major advantage of GM over companies mono-line companies like Mercedes being discussed in the FAO Schwartz thread.

This notwithstanding the great and profitable product lines GM has in addition to Hummer, 8x P/E ratio and 3.8% dividend yield. I think GM is still a good buy.

I bought some in the upper $20 and more in the lower $30 range and now it's over $52 a share.

Not bad doubling in about a year.
