I have purchased a 04 and loving it http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I have noticed there is a loud popping coming from underneath the car when it is running and when it is turned off. I have seen poseted previously for the 03 a service bulletin. Has anyone found out if they fixed this on the 04 and what should I tell the dealer if this has not been fixed. Thanks for the advice to anyone that replies.

O4', give us some time, thats a new production, and we have only started getting them about 3 weeks ago so any "factory help/repairs" are still a ways off. My suggestion, take it back to the dealer, thats what "bumper to bumper" is for.

I was just asking a simple question. No need to be upset.

Congrats on your new purchase! Its most likley the same muffler problem that the 03 has. No big deal. Take it to the dealer, they will fix it for you. I has the dealer chance mine twice because of the poping sound and it was still poping! I then installed an aftermarket muffler and all the noise stopped! Its ok I like the sound better now anyway. Craig,
Crash needs time with 04 since these guys are still trying to figure out the other issues with the 03s. I`ll give em 15months for any 04 response http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif.
Congrats on your H2!
BTW...That popping noise has something to do with heating and cooling of the Cat or Muff.
Samething happens to most 03s, including mine http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

The 2 I have dealt with, have been exactly what you had mentioned, heat expansion when turned off (or also called heat soak). Both times I contacted our "smart guys(ya right) at technical assistance and they said they knew of the problem and didn't have info at this time, and that was some time ago.....
One thing that sucks, its one thing to physically have a failed part/problem, but its flat out frustrating when you are dealing with engineering type of problems like the pop...

Crash,
One of the main questions was did they TRY to fix this or do anything different for the 04's.

I honestly cannot tell you yes/no. They usually don't give us that much info... Heck, they don't even give us alot of info on the new product release's...

Thanks for the insight. BTW did you happen to see the 04 nav challenge. Since you are a tech I did not know if you would be able to help out with some wiring diagrams there or not. Thanks in advance.
