Can anyone shed some light on this?
I was told by a friend that the H2 owners are complaining that the rear seat and something about the suspension causing the rear seat passengers to get sick to their stomachs.
I know about the mileage issue..
But anything about the reat seating making folks sick?

Yep, happens to my friends all the time. I usally hit the trail at about 80mph and forget I have brakes and after a few hill jumps and some mud pits everyone in the back seat says "let me out, I'am getting sick!!!" Just kidding, couldn't resist some humor here, I have never heard of this and have had many people ride in the rear seats and a few small trips but no one has been sick yet.

If I had to ride in the back of someone elses H2 I'd be sick too. Glad I have my own!!!

The rear seats are quite comfortable. My Wife and two boys sit back there and they have no problems whatsoever.
BUT......................................
This happened to one of my friends once. We were on a one hour drive to view a site. He was sitting in the back watching a movie. Apperantly watching a movie and being in motion, for him, made him nautious and dizzy.
It's possible. Rear seat home theatre is not that popular yet.

The information that I got about people getting sick because of the rear seats..all came from a mechanic friend of mine..
He says that he's heard nothing but complaints about the mileage and the the folks who have to sit in the back seat were getting sick..
I've ridden in one and my wife and baby sat in the back and never got sick..
I think your right about watching a movie and riding in a car doing the same can cause some sort of motion sickness.
I get kinda sick reading while riding with someone..

I heard the same story, only the people in the back got so sick they vomited until the entire passenger compartment filled up with puke and the Jersey Devil welded the doors shut so they could not get out and eveyone inside drowned. How's that for urban legend?

No, but I have heard that if you have the rear seat entertainment system, then your periphrial vision will see motion, but your direct vision will be locked on the TV screen. Its the same reason that people get seasick below decks, but not above. Their vision and their inner ear are telling their bodies two different things.
Damn, the things that you learn sailing. Hummerman can verify this, as he owns a Hatterass? Right, Hummerman? Any other boat owners on the forum? Hmmmm..... an idea for a new poll is forming in my mind!

OK, I have to jump in on this one. I never got seasick UNTIL heading out off Cape Cod to go Blue Fin Tuna fishing. We left at about 3:30 am and chugged out in our stinky diesel (didn't help). The problem was that there was no moonlight so I could not find the horizon. It was truly painful to search around and see absolutely nothing. Did I puke? No, but came close. I agree with Phil, those who are prone to get sick are going to get sick regardless where they're at, down below or topside. I seen many of my "tough ol' buddies" become pretty miserable off-shore. Ive learned sea can humble the best of the best.

Well, y'alls personal experience not withstanding, I feel better on deck. Not that I get queasy belowdecks, but if it's picthing and rollong, I'd rather be topside. The buddies that I boat with also report the same.
My point, however was that I think that the rear seat may cause conflict between the inner ear and the optical nerve, hence causing motion sickness. This is something that I believe can be rectified very easily, in not putting entertainment systems in places where your perephrial vision will be seeing movement that it cannot rectify with what is on screen.
BTW, what do you guys drive on the water? When I was a kid, my family used to sail a Morgan on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, but now I'm a Texan. I rely on a small dinghy with Johnson outboards and fishing gear until I can afford a sailboat of my own.

On occassion, I get motion sickness reading a paper in a moving car. Never to me watching a movie though. But it's not surprising to hear it could happen. Not on a wide scale like Iceman's friend exaggerated.

Yep the back seats make me sick. I rode in the back on a 4 hour drive and i couldn't stand it.
Also if you haven't noticed one of the achor straps for car seats on the left side of the back seat also sticks out. That can be uncomfortable too.

I know several people who get car sick when they ride in the back of any vehicle. Especially one that has tinted windows. Add that to the relative short height of the H2's windows and you are looking at tunnel vision. Those poor saps have no chance in the back of our rigs.
