"Sharing a platform with the Dodge Caliber, Compass blends homely looks with unrefined manners to a degree not seen since the unlamented Pontiac Aztek."

"Having a clutch pedal would do nothing for the ride quality. Catch a moderate-size bump with one rear wheel, and the Compass dances like a politician asked a controversial question."

"The dashboard is built up of more than a dozen pieces, most made of cheap-looking shiny plastics. In a Caliber or base Compass, you might say ?okay,? but at $26,000-plus, the cabin isn?t in the game. The argument for building up a dash of separate pieces, rather than joining the trend toward a one-piece look, is that it improves serviceability. Makes us wonder why they anticipate a need to service things inside the dashboard."

No mercy!!! Even the most cynical H3 reviews positively glow in comparison. At least they can't deny the 3's offroad ability ... the compass has none.

Somebody at my apts just bought a compass. Normally I'd point and laugh but they park in the handicapped zone and I think they'd get the wrong idea.

Nice show of self-restraint.

I think I'll slam Autoweek. I'm not particularlly crazy about Jeep but I'm tired of all these auto writers that don't know shxt slamming everything American and praising foreign crap. They must be paid off with free foreign junk to drive and cash. To hell with 'em. regards The Rebel

The Compass is an absolute joke.

In fact, those of you who pick on the FJ ought to be picking on the Compass instead. It's everything you try to pretend the FJ is. A Compass couldn't climb over a pile of leaves without spinning its front tires into the pile and getting stuck.

lenny ... Don't slam Autoweek. Their writer's absolutely correct to torch the Compass. Jeep's not American anymore (it's German now) and the Compass is nothing more than a badge-engineered Dodge Caliber econobox. They used to refer to a badge-engineered Dodge as a Plymouth. Now, sadly, it's a Jeep.

Thanks, Dr. Z.

A Plymouth Compass. Now that makes more sense for that POS.
