You can buy a 90? Zerk to make the job a little easier, also turning the wheel fully to one side sometimes provides clearance.

There was a TSB on this and if I recall dealers were supposed to replace the fitting with a 90* one as and when they lubed it. But I've not heard of that happening much.
You can get a side mount nozzle for your grease gun, or as suggested just change it out for a 90*, it is really easy to do.
Meaning, you just unscrew the one in there and replace with a 90? Do you know off hand what size it is?

Oops, wrong thread. I saw "lube" and "nipple" and figured it was the woodshed.

Yes.
Can't recall, but pretty sure it is metric, so 6 or 8mm. Just take the existing one out and take it to the store with you.
The zerk fittings are the 1/4" size.
I replaced mine about 5 minutes. I like these 90 degrees valves so much that I also changed a couple of the lube ports on my Suburban too.
I can reach that valve with my skid plate ON. However, I have an H2Oguy aftermarket skid plate. In any case, you need a grease gun with at least an 18" hose.
