ok just bought a 03 solar flare h2 a few weeks ago and im a long time gm guy and a 16 year auto tech . went from my 14 inch lifted solid axle swaped avalanche to a allmost stock h2 . got a tbar crank and a 2 inch lift rear .. not a bad truck . ecept the interior rattles lol . any who .. been haveing issues with the radio . bose 6 disk . the fm part of the radio keeps cutting out seems to work first thing in the morning after about 5 mins it cuts out . no fm or am tuner . changer works fine . but no stations or sound on fm .thinkn about swapn it for a indash dvd . but theres so many issues with the interfaces for the bose and the bcm . dont want to swap in a nice deck to have alot engine whine and glitchs with a interface .so lookn for sugustions switch to a new aftermarket deck or try to figure out whats up with the oe deck . is there a way to install a aftermarket deck with out a interface . dont care about the chimes or the onstar . ..thanks for ur input

Jake666,
Sounds based upon your description that theres someing wrong with the radio itself, not the system. It could be anything from any of the buttons malfunctioning to something more internal. My suggestion is to try another OE 6Disk radio and see if the same issue duplicates itself. If you try this and it works just fine with another OE radio, then it was the old radio itself. If the problem continues, then its in the system. You will have to rule things out. I have an OE 6 disk here for sale on my shelf if you want to try it.
The other alternative would be to just go aftermarket but like you said, you could run into interfacing issues.

yeah iv kind of narrowed it down to the deck .. the gm decks these years have allways been plauged with issues .. has any one tryed to hook a aftermarket deck to the bose amp with out a interface . it seems that with most of the adaptors out thee there taking the preout from the new deck and through the adaptors wireing sending that signal to the bose amp . iv seen a few that also allow u to use that decks speaker outputs to . most seem to be limited to 3 volts max preout and im guessing since most newer decks have 5 volts or more alot of the noise issues are related to that .. i guess i could allways pull the bose amp add in my own amps to power the speakers . even though the bose speakers are of a lower ohm rateing im sure if i dont drive them too hard i wont over work the amps too much .. like i said im not to worried about loseing the chimes or the onstar . but i dont want to spend a bunch on a interface and have it give me issues . or noise . plus my daughter keeps reminding me that my new truck is lacking a dvd for her since my last one had one lol

If ya just want to install a factory headunit back in ya can have my old one.
It worked fine when removed. I went with a Kenwood DNX-6960. Great unit has bluetooth, dvd, and garmin based gps.

Perhaps you had a bad experience with the interface adapters in the past, but they work very well now a days when they are installed properly. Here was my experience:
