37" tire ?

I have heard that you can and can't run 37" tires on a stock Hummer H2. I would be running stock rims and 37x12.50 tires and want to know if they will rub offroad? I also have the air suspension. I'm not afraid to trim the fender wells if they do rub, but how much would I have to trim and where?

I've read the comments of some owners running 37s in respect to the tires not rubbing at all. Thus, I was all set on going with 37s - they truly look great.

Then, I met a guy running 37" Good Years and he said they DO in fact rub when he goes off-road where the suspension has a chance to travel liberally. He seemed to regret not sticking with 35s.

If you wheel your H2, then expect that they'll rub. If your H2 is a pavement pounder, then I suspect there will be no issues. I make this comment because I looked closely at the inner wheel well clearance afforded by the 37s. You have about 1" of travel before the leading edge of the tire hits the fender!

As much as I like the aesthetics of the 37s, I'm going with a 35" Mud Tire when my A/Ts are exhausted.

You'll get 2 sides to the story, depending on who you ask.

the guy you talked to did he have stock wheels or new ones with 4.5-5 offset?

I put 37" MTR's on my stock rims and I've never had a problem with rubbing. And I off-road whenever possible oer all types of terrain. If you went with a more aggresive tire like a mud-bogger tread then you will have problems with rubbing.

I put 37" MTR's on stock rims as well, and have flexed the suspension pretty thoroughly off road (probably should say off pavement). With the suspension both aired up and down and no apparent rubbing.

Not nearly as easy to clean the wheel wells though http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The only trouble I had was w/my local goodyear dealer....he wouldn't mount them without an O.K. from a goodyear rep....my guess is liability and/or warranty issues.

The H2 owner running 37" Good Year tires had stock wheels. However, I don't know if he had the air suspension or not, which can make a difference.

sj & others thanks for the imput. I asked the people @ lynch hummer they said road& trails should be fine. they have only seen them rub under severe articulation ie rockclimbing. My thought here is if you are going to do that- going with a 4" lift will greatly increase articulation making the truck better for such use-(increase ramp index) otherwise if not it looks like 37's with better offset wheels should work well.
