Uh oh, we have a problem.

Take a look in the photos section in the muddiest truck thread. See the second pic? See how high the splash is? No way we'll be able to suspend a rope that high from flat ground.

That means I'll have to make the subjective decision. Ergo, the bribe line is now open.

rodster 01-28-2006 05:35 AM

Bond, here are the Road Armor pics.

Toots, here is a link to that cargo box
SUT Cargo

TootsSUT 01-28-2006 03:17 PM

Yeah, I did see that one and asked about it here on the forum but I got a big NO!!

I can understand why though because the items that I want to put in it would be staying there permanently and I would want to have them locked in and secured to the vehicle. I also want to be able to remove it when camping so there is room in the vehicle to sleep.

I'm not needy, am I?

Bondage 01-28-2006 03:22 PM

Everybody keep your fingers crossed.....JNSTITZ and I are taking Toots out for her first run in her Tonka Toy! We're gonna do Rowher this morning and it's a beautiful day! Pics to follow.....

I'm excited - now if whe's gonna roll one, it'll be HERS!

Sean
PS - All of life at this point, is just preparation for the Mojave Run.......

TootsSUT 01-28-2006 04:14 PM

My only concern is how much damage mine is going to receive when Bundage roll's his in to me!!!

Boys.

Toots, check this out. This is a steel tool box made by delta. It's pretty small. You mount a bracket to the floor of truck bed, install the on the bracket and twist the latches INSIDE the box. Then lock the box. It's not real secure unless you added hasps and padlocks on both sides so you wouldn't want to put anything really valuable in it. Also you could have it black spray on bedliner to make it black. The only problem would be the bracket is about an inch tall - you would have to have some pretty thick bedding not to feel it.

LV - that is one awesome sunset pic. Dontchya just LOVE black?

Toots went on her maiden run today at Rowher. The trail has some VERY difficult sections, and she came through with flying colors! I'm sure she'll post some pics soon, but here's just one of her new custom desert pinstriping! She has shields on order...they better come soon!

"It can do 30 inches"...I've regrettably had it deeper and by the grace of God, its still running.

Wasnt my truck on that run...but I have had it in Vegas a few times...

They are, which is one thing that AM General did pretty well, the doors have a very solid seal, and the firewall, well lets just say its been reinforced haha

A quick pictorial history of The Mojave Road in 7 parts.....

PART ONE
The Mojave Indians created a "footpath" thru the desolate and difficult desert as a trade route with Indian tribes on the coast. They found enough natural springs to make the trip survivable and, when the white man came, they showed him the way. Ancient Indian petroglyphs (estimated to be 2 to 3,000 years old) are still visible at some of the springs along the way! Men like Smith and Fremont and Carson made the first "maps" and writings of the route. This cooperation between the Mojave's and the white men would not last long. It would become a very dangerous journey due to both the harsh conditions - and the Indians who would regret showing us the way....

PART TWO

More and more whites came. On foot, on horseback, and by wagon train. Where the distances were too great between springs, we dug wells. Army outposts were established at some of the springs and wells to keep the Indians away. These outposts were harsh, difficult, and lonely. The highest desertion rate in the history of the US Army was established at the outpost at Rock Springs!

PART THREE

Then the trains came. And the road all but died for awhile. This Tonopah & Tidewater Line ran from about 1906 into the 1930's. During WWII, the rails were torn up to feed the war machine's need for steel. All that is left now is a strange berm in the desert - and an occasional railroad tie in the middle of nowhere!

Albie 01-29-2006 02:39 PM

hey are we still doing this....sorry was super busy...........
