I'd be up for White Rim, I was thinking of taking the family out there next fall and doing White Rim. This would be great recon... only way I can get the wife to let me go is to use the old recon excuse for the next family outting...

We do that in the parking lot of the Gonzo. We even use Webers and have many, many cold ones.:jump:

If you are interested in camping I can give you some info. I camped the whole time I was there many eons ago, when I was a wee lad (2003). It was late october early November. The campsites in Arches park are lush, I didn't camp there but did check them out. They have full facillities so its camping-ish, or camping-like. Bathrooms, showers, sinks for doing the dishes all just a few yards from where you camp. I imagine they are a bit pricey as campsites go and you definitely want to reserve well ahead. You will have some amazing scenery there, about 15min from downtown moab, and I also knoww some really cool trails in there you can drive. If you can find the pics from my Moab trip on here you'll se them, amazing geography and a little different terrain than the other Moab stuff.
I camped in the state campground which is up behind lion's back. Nice sites, toilet facillities a short walk from campsites. You need to store your own water there though. A couple 5 gallon containers and there is a gas station at the bottom of the hill into downtown to fill them at. They are super cheap and you can roll out of bed and be at the trail head of hell's and fin's in 2 minutes. You can get to the gonzo in about 5 min. to knock down Kens door and use his shower :dancingbanana: or bring a camping shower.
I met a couple who did the White Rim trip they had a real decked out Landcruzer with all kind of expedition gear to do the trip (since you need to bring everything you'll need) it looked awesome. They said the scenery was amazing the driving is not super technical but you'll be along some hair raising cliffs. If you need any other info just ask, I'll be glad to offer up what I know.

The only thing is you can't bring dogs. So those with dogs will have to make arrangements.

I have always wanted to do it- more for the stars. Not the trail so much. Maybe a night at the Arches campground for me- easy for beer runs and enclosed pee breaks.:D

Not just no, but HELL NO!!!!!!! No camping for the princess or my little peas. We like the big city of MOAB just fine. Now if Paragon wants to go, he can. But my guess would be a double HELL NO !!!!!!!!!! :dancingbanana: My goal is to sit out in the parking lot and get sh!tty drunk and show my thong to Ken, Dennis and CP every night. :giggling: Correction - show my thong in my bling bling camos every night. ;) :giggling:

Correction -> The regulations say you can't bring them. But I wouldn't hesitate a second to bring them anyway. No one is going to stop and question you when you're way out in the sticks like that. It's a stupid rule that has no relevance to the backcountry.
