Killian,

We're coming after you if you don't tell us where to get the rear marker lights!!!! lol

killian 06-12-2005 02:27 PM

All right, all right, I give! It was photoshopped.

Uhh, no. Really: I went to Kachina Hummer in Scottsdale and picked up two rear marker lights for an H2 and installed them myself. I drilled a couple of holes in the plastic and ran the wiring down to the tail lights. I screwed up at first and connected the markers to the wrong wires. They lit up with the other marker lights but they flashed with the turn signals and they turned off when I hit the brakes. I found the correct wires to connect them to and buttoned everything up. Total install time was about an hour and a half with the learning curve. I could do it again in 30 to 45 minutes.

In retrospect, I don't suggest using the H2 lights. They're expensive and they're too damn big, they don't sit quite right because of their size. You can get a cleaner look at a fraction of the price by hitting up an RV store.

I'm going to see if the lights look any better if I move them over a little. If not, they're comming off and getting replaced on Tuesday with smaller ones that I found at a place here in Phoenix.

I've also figured out how to run the wiring to mount the three markers in the center on the back door but it's going to require more drilling and about two to three hours of labor. I'll probably hold off for awhile or else I'll get a body shop to do most of the work. To be continued....

Liar...you were going to Scottsdale to be a Rock Star.

Arizona law states front tinting must transmit at least 33% light.

I talked to my dad who use to do quality control for the H2 lights (all gm truck lights for that matter). He said those lights cost $2.75, and Autozone might have some better lights for the H3.

killian 06-12-2005 03:50 PM

Thanks for letting my secret out Tim!

Firm, you could also probably get something here:

H3 Buyer to be? 06-12-2005 07:45 PM

Killian, how were those installed? On the rear I mean...

killian 06-12-2005 07:50 PM

look about 7 posts up:

I drilled holes, ran wire and mounted them with screws to the plastic trim. Wired them in through the brake lights

H3 Buyer to be? 06-12-2005 08:08 PM

OOOPS

LOL

Sorry, so how much will you charge me?

killian 06-12-2005 08:11 PM

Parts + in and out burger and a beer.

H3 Buyer to be? 06-12-2005 08:36 PM

Are you married? Maybe you can come over, and bring the wife. THe wifes can do wife stuff, and I make some killer food - anything you like. I made some killer Tuna Steaks the other night... And more than one beer for sure.

killian 06-12-2005 09:03 PM

Yeah I'm married, and she loves tuna steaks too, that's one of her favorites. Veggies and fish, that's about all she eats. (Enter Drtyfn's perverted comment here) We could knock out the rear marker lights and hang out for a while the girls do stuff. I'll drop you a line when I know what my schedule looks like. I have a business partner coming in from the UK in a couple of weeks and a friend comming in from Ireland a few days earlier. It would have to be either sooner or later. What does your schedule look like?

H3 Buyer to be? 06-13-2005 12:10 AM

Will you eat the Tuna as well? I am off only unfortunately on Thursdays and Saturdays. After 5pm any other day is fine as well though.

I am totally game for whenever you want, you will have to travel though, I live on FLW and 100th St.

Were can I buy the lights, or can you grab them and I will pay you? If they are smaller I think, like you said they may look better...

I will pm you my email and TN
