Powder coating is pretty much like paint, not chrome. Unless they are adding a peal or something...

Exactly... But the question still remains: What is that the truck above has its wheels painted with?

powdercoating, if done correctly, will look just like the paint on your vehicle. very smooth and shiny. it's just very durable since it's baked into the material being powdercoated. it's a more popular option for those who need a very durable wheel.

Pretty sure it is it's own process. Wonder if you can find a tinted clear coat!

That's what they use when tinting tailights. It's just a mixture of clear coat and black paint.

I just spoke with my dealer today who had a company make some stock chrome rims he had "black chrome". He said they made the center cap, which is plastic, match. So I'm going to call them tomorrow and see if they can do my grill and side mirrors.
