Re: alignment under warranty

OMG - AN ALIGNMENT for $150.00????

I had my torsion bars adjusted and an alignment for $50.00. You are getting jacked if you pay anything over $50 for an alignment alone. And mine was not at an H3 dealership, nor any major dealership, but a privately owned company that specializes in alignments. In fact, the dealerships send their vehicles to these guys for alignments.

As far as the warranty, I agree with F5 for higher miles - but in my case mine had just rolled 5,000 so I know that that thing was off from the factory. I hadn't been beating on it off road and it always had that driver's side lean to it.

I suspect that the alignment may be skewed when the vehicles are transported, from being chained down, etc. But I could be wrong...

It would be really helpful if more of you guys could post what you paid to have an alignment and/or a tire rotation and balance done at a Hummer dealer and where you're located (if you've even had this work done of course). That will give me some numbers to back up my claim that I got ripped off by my dealer.

Re: alignment under warranty

I takes a bit of miles for noticable tire wear to show up. I would have argued that at 15,000 it's more than likely the alignment was out of whack when you got the H3. But, that of course depends on the amount of wear. If the wear is substantial then it's likely it was off all along.

I sent you this on 10/24/06

oil change
filter

rotate & balance 4 tires
adjust & clean brakes (warrenty) {sanded pads & front rotors}

TOTAL $ in U.S. DOLLARS

$84.12 (includes tax) PLUS $1.00 for the car jockey

AND

I DID NOT buy the H-3 from this dealer

No joking,

you need to GO IN to the dealer and talk to the service manager. If you get no satisfaction make an appointment with the General Manager.

The old saying "the Squeky hindge gets oiled first" doen not always work. Aproach this in a professional manner, don't fly off the hook.

If at the end that dealer does not address your problem to your satisfaction
1. mention the customer survey
2. send a LETTER not e-mail to GM
3. and this is important POST THE RESULTS ON THIS SITE with the dealers name, location, name of service manager, name of general manager,

NOW

before all you GM/DEALER employees get on my case, I understand that a profit needs to be made and every location has different expenses

BUT

The charges have to be in line (within certain tolerances) of other HUMMER dealers, regardless of location. (talking about the lower 48 here)

Especially in crowded urban area

Please keep us informed.

A most important thing my DADDY taught me: "you work hard for your money, best it stays in your pocket instead of someones elses..."

What's the mileage? Is it under 7K, if so then it's still under warranty and you only paid the oil change. :dancingbanana:

Thanks RYD. My post wasn't directed at anyone in particular (and especially not you since you had already posted what you paid), but just at everyone in general since I assume quite a few of us have gotten the same work done at a Hummer dealership. I figure it's best if I have some examples of what people paid at other Hummer dealerships all over the country (even better if anyone in NJ has had the same work done). I'm assuming that they're going to give me the typical "that's the going rate in this area...." BS, so it will only help me if I can prove that they're charging way more than anyone else does. Mentioning the customer survey thing is a really good idea; in fact, I find it a bit odd that whenever I have warranty (free) work done they mention the survery but when I had this work done the other day, no survey was mentioned. I guess that could have just been an oversight but I'm wondering if they have a way of preventing you from getting a survey if they think there's any chance of you giving them a bad review.
