Here's a couple pics I took when installing the UC protection, sorry no action shots. It may not be as beefy as the RB stuff for the H2, but its all that's out there right now AFAIK. It does feel pretty sturdy. And it definitely beats the stock protection over the TC.

In an earlier post there was a message that there was a new underbody protection kit available from GM. (this thread had to do with the modications to the rough country lift kit).

Does andybody have more news about this?

Sewie, thanks for the pics. Were they easy to put on? Any pitfalls in the installation that I need to avoid? Thank you.

The install was pretty easy. The only problem I had was that my dealer had replaced one of the skidplate bolts with a shorter one. So I was playing musical bolts to get everything to fit.

A couple other items of note.

1. You lose about 1" of clearance. Would be nice to have ones that tucked up between the crossmembers.

2. They collect mud like a mofo!

KenP's idea may be a better alternative; specifically:

Taking some 1/4" plate and weld it to the stock UCP. Then cut some large holes for ventilation. Cheap and it should last a while."

Don't forget, if the skid plate is keeping the big rocks away from your undercarriage, it's also keeping lots of mud away from the pressure washer and out of site. You'd be surprised how much mud can accumilate ontop on things under there! It will pack up under there and eventually cause lots of heat build up! If you do make the skid plates, make them easily removable, maybe a rivets, and not welded.

I may be moving up there within the month of Feb. I'll keep y'all updated. I guess I'll just have to show you how it's done here in Texas! Bigger is always better!

After you've had a few weeks to test them out... what do you think of them?

Seems a hell of a lot of money for what is essentially 1" or so box section steel.

IMHO, it would be better to use this type of ladder framework and then add 1/4" plate over the top of it.

I know when we used to armor Jeeps for trails like Rubicon the thought of leaving stuff open like in these picures is less than ideal.
