I'll be happy with the 5.3. It will get the PCM for less treatment and a new exhaust soon afterwards. Probably a 3" single Dynomax (more efficient, sounds good, zero resonance which I truly hate) unless the Alpha comes with dual. I don't like my machines loud, particularly for no reason.

The new 6.2 and six speed in the H2 is an amazing combo too. The Denali just well might be traded in for one of those or the new Sierra Denali (lighter, same hp and tranny = bonafide hot rod).

No duals on this. More bends and turns than a snake. I really don't know if duals would fit between body and frame. VERY tight fit.

Huck you would hate my Chopper. Twisting the throttle on that S&S is reason enough for me.

Wood choppers are loud for a reason. I like 'em!

No, I really don't like loud machines. If so many cops weren't going through midlife crisis and riding cruisers with straight pipes themselves, they would enforce the law. I got pulled over half a dozen times in the late 70s for my enduro being too loud and it's not half as loud as the "Look at me, ain't I sump'n" machines on the road now. I'm not one for annoying people around me with my toys. When I'm carvin' with my saws, or practice shooting, I wait until I know it's late enough in the morning so as I don't disturb them.

I had headers on my last Scout II, it was horrible in the morning. It had dual glass packs and the jets in the carb were too large. I took those stupid fuggin' things off and had the local exhaust whiz put a 3" dynomax on it. Sounded just right and quit beatin' on my neighbor's windows when I went to work.

My big Can-Am with it's v-twin is really quiet. No need to run around the mountains making all the noise I can. It runs off the animals and makes me deafer than I already am (which is pretty darned deaf enough)

One thing I don't understand about the hogs out there, can't they idle? Is there a reason a chimp in his crotchless pants and chromed cap has to sit at a light and work the throttle the whole time he's waiting?

Straight pipes actually waste power unless you're near redline all the time, Harleys don't do THAT well so what's the point if it's not narcissistic behavior?

Yeah, I'm yankin' your chain on this one.:giggling: I figure there's one or two laws that you wouldn't like me breaking too.

Poor poor pitiful me right?!?:crying:

:giggling: :giggling:

That's damn funny. You are definitely a man with opinions, I 'm glad you are not King.

Having been riding and wrenching bikes for decades, I'm not into the recent "chopper chimp" assless chaps look (I blame that ridiculous American Chopper crap). I've ridden many different bikes, from Suzuki R/M's, to Suzuki 1000 GSX and an R1. I've had several cruisers also, but now that I'm middle aged :shhh: (40 next month), I have mellowed out now. I like my rigid framed all black badass. I put two step Martin Brothers Medustas pipes on my 107" S&S. They are drag pipes but certainly not straight.

I've dropped several bikes in my life, enough that I don't want to do that anymore. The last time it happened was about two years ago, when a 17 year old girl talking on her cell phone made a left hand turn out of a parking lot, directly into my path. She left me 30 feet to react at 40 mph. She said she didn't see me. Maybe if she would have heard me, I could have avoided that six months off of work and the damaged disks in my back, and all that nasty blood.

To each their own I say, I may occasionally burp the throttle at stop lights, but I also love the sound of an old Big block or a modern LS also. Let em rip, just don't endanger others, and I won't get too excited.

Goin' down is NOT fun! Loud pipes wouldn't have saved you. They're particularly noisy and bothersome to only people next to them at a stop light or people out in their yard enjoying the day. Due to the doppler effect, windows rolled up, inattentiveness due to cell phones and my other nemesis boom boom stereos, the loud pipes won't help at all.

So, they hurt horsepower and sound bad.

Huck, you're alright.

By the way, IF IT'S TOO LOUD, YOU'RE TOO OLD! :giggling:

Krap, that one truth hurts.

My deafness wouldn't have anything to do with my motorcycles, shooting, or sitting in front of WALLS of speakers in my youth during concerts....

I have XM crankin' on the stereo right now.... I don't think many other people can hear it though!

Yeah, we temporarily hijacked this thread. I guess if you wanted to talk about the H3 Alpha, you were gonna have to resort to one of the other dozen threads about it.

Sorry, we can return you now to your regularly scheduled program. :D
