yes that's correct. I gave them my color code (located on the vehicle) and they did the rest. The undercoating is a dark blue and the next coat is pretty much perfect color match. I went to this shop: Line-X Kustoms & Accesories 3265 E. 18th Street Antioch, CA 94509 Phone: (925) 754-5180 Skip did it and he did an awesome job. To answer quesions about durability.... I didn't get line-x so I can plow through anything, I got it because 1. it covered up all the paint scratches (just like a new paint job) 2. makes it more durable. If you offroad like a lot of us do then you know that your truck fenders make contact with a lot of branches. Also... worst case senerio: if the line-x does get damaged, it can be repaired. As long as the fenders retain their shape it's all good. If you want to fix your painted fenders, you will most likley have to buy a new fender and get it painted to match. |

Looks awesome! :beerchug:

Re: New Blue Line-X
Were the fenders removed before they were brought to the shop to be sprayed or did you bring the truck to the shop and let them handle it...

Re: New Blue Line-X
That looks awesome!!

Re: New Blue Line-X
That's the bomb! If I may ask, how much $ did it set you back. I seriously want to have my fenders done. After only a few weeks after buying my H3, the rear fenders already had some chips from driving on gravel roads. I installed mud flaps for highway driving, but I think the Line-X is a far better solution.:jump:

Re: New Blue Line-X
Looks good! The color match is perfect. I think going with a darker blue would be cool too.
I wonder how it looks when blue peels off. :giggling: |

Very cool and studly! :perfect10s: Is there a how to anywhere here for fender removal or is it that straightforward?

I just came from my local Line-X shop. The owner has never done fenders before, but he has done rocker panels. Can you belive that he wants $750-850 for the job?!? He says that it would be $250 just for the paint to match my boulder gray H3. He would like the info for the shop that did Bully's so I will forward that to him. Maybe he will tell him that he is way out of line with his estimate. I asked about getting the grille done Line-X black, but he said he couldn't do it, which I know is bull, 'cause I've seen plenty of others in this forum with the blacked-out grille. Should I try another Line-X dealer? |
Re: New Blue Line-X
If there's another dealer in your area that does the color-match, then tell this guy to :fdance: . They charge by the "click" so ask how many he thinks it would take. If Bully has his receipt it should say on there how many it took. And if they don't think it can be done, show them the pictures from on here. When I got my grill done, they said the same thing until I explained I'd seen it done at least a half dozen times. If they wrap the coating around the backside of the grill it will stick just fine.
