Just checked mine. 2003 made 10/02. No filter.
I suspect this was another cost-cutting measure, just like the underhood light. |
since we have units out there that are sealed where is all the dirt going? That could really cause the A/C to not work very well. I did get the underhood light as well as the coat hooks. Hey Easy they never found it in the service manual. It wasn't until they pulled the cover down and found the access door that the dealer suggested a filter change. We at least have the same rusted frame that the glove compartment bolts to.

I checked my H2 and I have the filter. My production number is around 700. I also noticed the trim piece on the transmission shifter that slides is a shiney plastic material on mine, and a flat dull material on H2 after 1000.
Thanks for the input. |
Now I am upset. Manufacturers are putting cabin filters into vehicles costing less than half what we have spent. I smell dust and have crud shooting out my air vents from a trip to Pismo last July!
|
I just checked my 03 and it doesn't have the filter. Just sealed shut. My 01 Toyota Highlander didn't have a filter either, but they still left the slot available to put one in. I added it after they started putting them in the 02's. Any way to retrofit something? I live in a very dusty and windy area, and it's definately nice to have a pollen filter available...

Do not forget about the missing prop rod.Delco
Number cf127 is cheaper, and there is no design breaks to let you know if you havethis filter or not ![]() |
Just pulling up an old thread. Hey, for you 04 and 05 owners, do you guys have cabin air filters?
|
I bet I do, I never looked. I will change it at 10K probably. I will probably replace it with a K&N for better flow!

'03 Lux here... No door on mine either.
|
'05 SUV here and it appears to be conspicuously devoid of a cabin filter door...bastards!
|
"A/C Air filter mod"...I will pass on the K&N thing though...oil smell is not my fav orite. Now, If I could get a "burnt nitro" smell...
Yo T-When's lunch?? ![]() |
Here is the final word on this.
HUMMER DID AWAY WITH THE CABIN AIR FILTER IN EARLY 03 MODEL YEAR. MOST TRUCKS DO NOT HAVE. NO MENTION IN PARTS CATALOG ABOUT THIS, SO THEY WILL SHOW A FILTER, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE ONE. |
Ok, I know it's sealed shut...but is it possible to cut it open, buy a filter and filter "door" and use it? Or are the inner workings not compatible?
|
Anything is possible, but if you try to stick a filter somewhere and it is not a perfect fit, then the majority of the air will flow around it and render it useless. I would just accept the fact you don't have a cabin filter and let it alone. After all, we've driven in cars for decades with no cabin filters.

My 05 has a filter. My lungs.

Re: Air Conditioning Cabin Filter
I went in for an oil change and the 'friendly' dealer told me I had to change the cabin filter...instead of paying them to do it, I decided to go at it myself, and openned up the panel below the glove box...and nothing?? I have an early '05, anyone know if my truck wouldn't have this filter?
|
Re: Air Conditioning Cabin Filter
I think that it was just a few of us with early '03's.
|
Re: Air Conditioning Cabin Filter
Yeah, from the further research, looks like the '06s had them too? I think it's weird that some vehicles didn't have them (and kinda gross!)...but what's even more bother-some was the dealer told me explicitly that I had to change mine...and a few other items ($2500 worth!) weren't 'urgently' in need of repair...after getting a second opinion (AND finding out the Cabin Filter DIDN'T EVEN EXIST) that's the last time I goto that dealership for work...
btw THE CRAPPY DEALER IS :twak: - Dealer was REEVES HUMMER in TAMPA. (I'm sure everyone's experience is different) Funny thing (which kind of tipped me off to begin with and not agree to do all the work at the time) was while we were waiting for the oil change to be completed (and them to think up all these crazy things that needed to be fixed) we went to look at the new H2's and H3's and the sales guy made it sound like they were FLYING out of the dealership and he was TOO busy to talk to us....keep in mind we were the ONLY customers in the front w/ the new cars and only one other customer was waiting in the Service area... The guy even said the H2 would be around until AT LEAST 2014...he was sooo cocky and arogant that I think even HE believed the BS he was slinging...neither my girlfriend nor I did...we just both looked at eachother with THAT LOOK like 'this guy is OUT OF HIS MIND!' :notallthere: |
Reviving an older thread
Hey-So my '03 does NOT have the filter door. My problem is that it sounds like there's a leaf or piece up against the squirrel cage blower. It only buzzes when the fan is on high, but it feels like air output is diminished at all speeds. Can someone tell me how to get to the motor assembly? Anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

Re: Air Conditioning Cabin Filter
Remove Insulator on passenger side then remove motor and blower.
Note: Manual is showing the HVAC unit removed from truck, not required to remove motor and blower. ![]() ![]() |
