If you bought the vehicle new, you can ask them to give you assistance. Bring up the point it is a well know problem. This is assuming you're not more than 24k miles outside of your warranty. They can most likely give you both updated mirrors for a small deductible of a couple hundred. K.B. is a good dealer and they should take care of you on that.

Thanks Ken, I will give that a shot.

Thanks Hummertech, I'll give it a try when I pick it up tomorrow. I know its a prob cause I've had them replaced before under warranty on my H2 & theirs. We'll see if K.B. comes through for me tomorrow - they wouldn't for my wife the other day.

mmayo 10-01-2005 08:21 PM

Picked it up today, since its Saturday no one was there to help - the little girl was going to get the service manager to call me next week. We'll see what happens. Just seems something should be done on GMs part since its a known problem.

I wish you luck! KB is my dealer too, and I would like to think that he's a good Hummer dealer.

aggiehummer...er 10-02-2005 12:15 PM

KB is a great Hummer dealer. I'll be down there on Wednesday actually. I love their new facility.

My dealer is going to remove the strips from the mirrors and the plastic piece above the license plate on the tire carrier and have them black chrome for me.

4churchill 10-08-2005 03:52 PM

Would love to see how it comes out....

Dick Renaud 10-09-2005 12:02 PM

the 906 should be in in two weeks. I will get pictures when the mirrors are done.

T-shirt Man 10-12-2005 05:57 PM

Just got my 06 mirrors on my 03 Lux-very nice and much more stable. Gotta get used to the look, but at least the vibration wont drive me crazy.

HummerNewbie 10-12-2005 06:28 PM

What is the criteria for the dealer to just replace them with '06 mirrors? A friend of mine had his '05 in yesterday for the mirror problem and they said they replaced them but they are the old style. Aren't they only replacing them with '06 mirrors now?

T-shirt Man 10-12-2005 06:36 PM

Its my understanding that any mirror replacement should be with the new 06 style. The mirrors are a documented service issue, so just simply complaining about the vibration should get them replaced, assuming you are still under warrenty.

Hummertech 10-12-2005 06:41 PM

There is currently a very limited supply of the new style mirrors. Also, dealers may be trying to use up their remaning stock of the old style mirrors, so you may have to specify if you want the new mirrors

VTSTOMPER 10-12-2005 06:46 PM

cool. Well if I go in I will be p i s s y about the drivers one vibrating - and see what I get.

FreeorDie2 10-12-2005 11:37 PM

I finally saw the new mirrors today at the dealership. Well. . .everyone has different tastes, so for those that like them, that's fine. I think they look chinsy and cheap; like they were trying just a little too hard to find another place to put the logo. Guess I better take good care of the ones I've got.

HummerNewbie 10-13-2005 10:31 AM

Thanks for the info guys.

HGW 10-16-2005 08:55 PM

Another fine GM improvement on a classicly styled vehicle.

They will **** it up further as time goes on.

Hold onto your 03's

Aubs 10-17-2005 05:22 PM

My '05 was in about a month ago for the mirror problem, so it must still be a bug even in the newer models (though mine is an EARLY 2005, before tire carrier and auto sunroof were standard [can I say the tire carrier fell off and I need a new one and get it under warranty? ]). Anyway, I do notice they vibrate at highway speeds and are quite noisy, but is that enough to get them replaced under warranty?

4churchill 10-17-2005 05:39 PM

Aubus I have a new carrier for sale PM me!!

CBR_Raven 11-02-2005 01:29 AM

Got my '06 mirrors today at Park Royale Supercenter...big thanks to Phil(4CHURCHILL).

H2Finally 11-02-2005 02:58 AM

Unfortunately, the stock hasn't hit SoCal yet; I am one of the few early fan of the 06 mirrors; my driver side is vibrating quite badly; and I'm at 34K...

Did something have to be wrong with the ones you had? Is there actually a service bulletin for the 'old' style?

HummBob 11-08-2005 10:01 PM

Just got my 06 mirrors installed yesterday. I like the look as opposed to the chrome covered ones, and at least(supposedly) I wont have the problems I've had with the original ones.
In over 1 year, I've had them replaced(under warranty) 3 times.
This last time, the curb assist didn't work on the passanger side so I just told them the drivers one vibrated at high speed just so there would be NO CONFUSION and both would be replaced.

So for all of my fellow Canuks, the 06's are the replacement mirror in Canada as well.

VTSTOMPER 11-08-2005 10:48 PM

did we ever find the TSB on this?

TRUE, TRUE , plus it's a PAIN in the ASS bringing the truck in every 3 months for NEW MIRRORS

MUH_HUM 12-17-2005 04:28 AM

hoping it's the cold weather we have but my 05 mirrors are starting to act up....Do I hang tight until they fall off, or do a dealer visit now.....

Me, I'll wait until they fall off inside of the warranty time.

VTSTOMPER 12-17-2005 12:12 PM

go to the dealer now. I did, and I have new mirrors now.

My passenger side has stopped working all the time, but I'm still not a fan of the new 06 Mirrors. There's too much black on them.

KenP 12-17-2005 03:32 PM

If you like the black mirrors you can always do what DRTY did. He rattle canned them.

OrangeCrush 12-17-2005 09:50 PM

I tried to get my mirrors but since they were already replaced under warranty once, it was a no go.

Anyone know how much a new set is? I took them apart and can stop them from vibrating but the fix won't allow them to fold in electrically.

I'll price out a new set.

Mark

Goalkeeper 12-17-2005 11:04 PM

Has anyone Purchased 06 mirros? If so, how much?

Thanks in advance...
