FRONT DIF?

Hummertech 10-17-2005 11:33 AM

When your truck just grinds in 4 unlock, but moves in 4 lock, that means you broke a front
cv joint or shaft. Not uncommon when doing some rough off roading. Dealer should cover it with no problem. I would clean off the undercarriage as well as I can just to be on the safe side.

Humgirl&guy 10-17-2005 02:34 PM

she's gone to the dealer now....lets see what they say!!

HummerNewbie 10-17-2005 03:08 PM

Did you get it cleaned up at all before they picked it up?

Humgirl&guy 10-17-2005 03:18 PM

yeah gave it a good cleaning....could see some mud under it but very little..kinda has a swap smell to it...lol

Did they cover it? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Oh hell no. The won't cover any of my drivetrain around here. Maybe at home.

But you should have no problem with the coverage. Mine's a special case.

Sorry to hear about the troubles. All vehicles, regardless of make, are bound to have problems at one point or another, some at bad places and times. Nothing's perfect

Anyway, this reminds me of an embarassing experience I had. I was over at a professors house in Mass. and there was like three feet of snow on the ground. Well, I parked in this dugout along the roadside, and when we got back out to the car, I had someone parked like a foot behind me, and snow a foot in front. So, I gunned it hoping for the best. Well, I got like five feet into the snowbank and then sank. We had to go back into the house full of UMass professors (who all worship the Prius) and explain the situation. Well, my friend had to blurt out "THERES A HUMMER STUCK OUTSIDE!!!" (I was just going to ask for a shovel and say a car was stuck). Anyway, a testimate to the H2, one branch stuck under the rear tire (with snow packed up entirely underneath) was enough to back the car right out after the car that was parked behind us left. It was embarassing, and I learned not to be so stupid.

I just wanted to share that. Luckily, my Jeep-obsessed friend never found out. His "H2 Recovery Team" t-shirt would have been worn everyday after that just to taunt me.
