Albie, I've been reading about this updated programming and saw that you checked in Vegas with no luck. I just called Towbin Hummer and asked about the updated programming. He said to just bring mine in for the next service and they will run the new programming.

dochummer 11-12-2004 12:55 AM

Does anyone know if it has to be done at a hummer dealer? I don't have one in my area, just a gm/chevy dealer. So if I understand correctly, just ask to have all the programs updated to the latest versions? In the end, the vehicle should hopeful have increased mpg....?

Does reprogramming apply to the 2005's?

H2Chuck 11-12-2004 04:42 PM

ok I called my dealer and he said he could do it now ,,so I am going to have the firmware for the engine done and see if it makes a difference ..wish me luck ..i should be back to post the results if anyone is interested ,,parring nothing blows up..lol..

Dan 11-13-2004 01:30 PM

Yep, post your results.

H2Chuck 11-14-2004 12:49 AM

ok I had the latest firmware uploaded to mine I have an 03 BTW and I noticed a considerable difference in all areas of acceleration and my DIC says 14.4 mpg.I am gonna drive it some more and check accuaracy .Looks good tho! It also made a difference in the way compressor cycled on air ride as well .

dochummer 11-14-2004 02:40 AM

So I spoke with the local gm service and asked them if they could do the upgrades to the firmware. They said that they were equipped to do it, but I would have to let them know what the problems are that I'm experiencing. He said that they wouldn't just throw in the updates without verifying some type of problem. He said that they have to enter info into their computer, and it would spit out the solution.. So....all I want is to see if my mpg's will increase with the upgrades. What should I say to the guy?

H2Chuck 11-22-2004 12:21 AM

Sorry for taking so long to get back.I had to work a day or 2 .Seems as tho the DIC is correct.
14.3 1st time and second fill up i checked it was 14.4..but i do try and keep foot out of it ..

Let me know what I should tell Roy as you find out Seth. I would love to get better mileage, especially if it gets me 14+mpg.
I have always questioned the shift settings on my H2.
How would this affect my mileage with 37's on my'03?
My system currently says I'm getting 9.4mpg avg. without reprogramming for tire size change. Hopefully, it will add atleast 2-3mpg.

I'll be bringing mine in within a month also for the updates. And to get my freakin OnStar fixed for the 3rd time.

Hey Ric, does the rental place there have the H2s in yet? We took the Escalade in a few weeks ago and they said their H2 rentals were coming in soon. I'll take my truck in then.

Hell...Last time I took in my H2 I didn't get squat!
I got a ride home from KB's Shuttle service (Rudy the shuttle driver was a very nice person to talk to), but I had to bum a ride and pay for gas back to the dealership in order to pick up my H2.
Not to mention had to ride my motorcycle during the day in order to get some errands run!
I need to start charging KB for all the gas I'm using to take my H2 for service. On the average, I'd say I take mine in atleast once a month, and use about a quarter tank getting it there and back.
As we all know, Gas Aint Cheap!

Each time I take it in, it is for real things, not just petty bothersome issues.
I'd say they do some kind of repair or part replacement every time it goes in.
The last time I took it in, I was back at the dealership the very next day!
Even though they did get me in and out of the dealership in one day without an appointment, it was still annoying to have to be inconvenienced in that way!

So "NO"!, the Hummer rentals are not in yet!
This last time the "basic Rentals" were not even it yet!

Sorry, Just had to vent!

Sfox, I called the local Hummer dealer here in Las Vegas and simply told them that I learned of some upgraded computer programming that has helped some owners get better gas mileage and performance. The service guy acknowledged that he did know what I was talking about and told me to have them check my current programming the next time I bring it in for service and he would download it. I plan on printing out Paragon's and Gas guzzler's posts on the first page when I take it in to show what has been done in the past. Don't know if this helps answer your question.

C'mon, I still need some help with what to ask for

Seth,

Tell them you need the update for the throttle body coking. It is one of the update numbers below that is a reprogram for the PCM: When I asked my service guy to update everything that was available, he did all of these:

+ reprogrammed air suspension module with new cal # 15233125 & 15233124
+ reprogrammed HVAC module with new cal # 1505218, 15105971, 15105970
+ reprogrammed PCM with updated cal # 12593058, 12592278, 12592279, 12592280

H2's as Rentals or loaners? I didn't see any at the enterprise tent on Saturday when we dropped off Phil's truck and it wasn't offered as an option (although the Escalade was).

As rentals. The Enterprise guys were super excited about it, figured they'd be difficult to keep in stock for the first few weeks since they'd be highly requested (duh).

Doc, you ever get the updates? If so, what did you tell them?
