I take The filter off and am able to get my hand (with a little effort) in there to get at the clips. (I have long fingers!):giggling:

Also look for the superflow compressor, it is the same compressor just with a different model #. I even double checked with the manuf. before I bought it. I got mine online at a parts place, but found them at G.I. Joes later on.

I left my house in the Smoky Mountains this afternoon and stopped in one of the Pep Boys in Knoxville. Got the last one they had. Thanks for the advice.

Jeff make sure you dont drill the 4th hole in the fusebox cover.

And buy a quick connect at radio shack for the power wire.

Are you going to run a line to the frame or are you just going off the compressor with the airhose ?.

jp's-h3 11-17-2006 01:58 AM

Re: Master Flow MF-1050 Air Compressor Installation w/ pics

Also make sure to run a safety wire to the air filter so that any vibrations don't rattle the cover off.
good luck, let us know if you need any other guidance! :beerchug:

Definately no fourth hole!! I'm going to run a line to the frame. Is there any one place better to come out with the air, such as the side, front rear, etc.? I'm also planning to swith it from inside the truck so the hood doesn't need to be popped for anything.

Re: Master Flow MF-1050 Air Compressor Installation w/ pics

Look through this thread there are pics of side install.

Inside switch sounds good.
I do use the gauge on compressor(about 5 lbs off) most of the time .
Also compressor has more power with the truck running and will stay cooler with the hood open.

You could run the air hose down along the drivers side frame rail and run a splitter off of that to the drivers side. I'm thinking of doing that myself! as for that fourth hole one the fuse box cover, GO FOR IT, It adds character! :D

I got mine installed this afternoon. I used a relay and switched it inside the cab. It's a nice compact install. I appreciate the info.

Nice set up Jeff!
Can you give a little info on the fittings / steel braided hosing from the pump to the coupling mounted on the frame rail?
Thanks! :beerchug:

All of the anodized fittings and S/B line are standard Russell fittings. The fitting out of the compressor is a standard pipe thread 1/4" to 7/16" and the Russell elbow is 7/16" pipe thread to a 7/16" pressure fitting. The fitting underneath is a standard Russell 7/16" pressure fitting to a 7/16" pipe thread. I did use a rubber washer behind the coupler as well as teflon tape. After setting all this up, I found out Russell also has the matching 1/4" to 7/16" pipe thread fitting coming out of the compressor. I just haven't made it up to the speed shop to get one. I know it's probably a little overkill, but I ran a 210" dragster on the IHRA circuit for about 8 years and I learned to like S/B line.:D It also helps when this place is a half mile from my office and the owner was one of my sponsors when I raced. He still gives me great prices.: http://www.truckaddons.com/store.htm

My local Costco is carrying the Master flow air compressor. It is selling for $49.99. Check the automotive section at your local Costco.

PEP BOYS runs about $54.00 tax included with coupon from their website.

Used mine last night in the parking lot of Outback. My daughter was running 22psi in her tires. OH WELL, YOU CAN LEAD THEM TO WATER...

No Pepboys here.. This is Autozone turf.. No one else survives here...

By the time I paid for the Costco membership, I'd have broke the $70 mark so...

Besides, I got a ship confirmation from them last night.. Shipped USP ground from PA and it'll be in Memphis tomorrow morning..

I have seen the INSTALL in the rear compartment and under the hood.

I carry mine in the bag for now, BUT, I'm concerned with the underhood installation. There is a lot of heat there and I wonder how it might effect the seals and flexable parts...

Jacksonville - Miami = 350 miles

Memphis - Chatanooga = 340 miles

Just because FL is the dangly portion of the US, and just because for years now we men have been trying convince women that the dangly portions are bigger than they appear don't make FL any bigger...

My engine compartment has gotten muddy and wet many times
I even keep my airhose(in a clear dollar store zipped bag behind battery) and thats holding up to the cold then hot ect.If that yellow plastic hose holds up the compressor sure will.
I dont know how it will hold up to 10 or 20 years.
I figure the week spot for for the system is the air hose(the factory one)not the added line.
I figured the lifespan of the hose is 3 to 6 years the compressor should last a minimum of 10 years,

Thats longer then the head last on the H3's:giggling: :shhh:

It's about the middle of TN more or less..

Most of what you see on their pics pages are built trail rigs, but from what I hear that's most of what you see on the Rubicon too and Hummers have taken that Ok...

I believe Pep Boy's price is $59.99 , but the coupon I found was only for $5 off anything in the store (when you spend $30).

Did you find another coupon? If yes, can you please post a link. Thanks.
