I know the DRL lights have been discussed many times. So much I'm confused. Can anyone tell me if the Sylvania 4157 LL bulb is brighter/whiter than the oem bulb? This is what Sylvania's website say's to use. If not, what is recommended without going to HID?

No, the 4157 is not any brighter than the stock piece of crap bulb.
Check to see if Sylvania makes either a 3157 or 4157 in their SilverStar line. Those will be much better than stock. Their SilverStar headlight bulbs are awesome and well worth the money. Much cheaper than the POS PIAA bulbs and much less expensive with excellent clean white light output.

Thx guys for response to this worn out subject. DRTY I think you're right. The 4157 LL is just a replacement bulb. Sylvania does make 3157/4157A ST which is the SilverStar High Performance bulb @ 24 watts. I think that will be much brighter/whiter but I'm a bit concerned about the heat. Anyone had experience with that bulb? If not I can call Sylvania. Thanks again.

New info. I just spoke with Sylvania about DRL bulbs. First, the 4157 LL is just a replacement bulb (long life). Their 3157/4157A ST is a SilverStar high performance bulb and they assure me it's brighter/whiter. It does NOT burn hotter. Their only concern is life. They say it may not last as long as the std bulb.

I have the Silverstar's and they are definitely an upgrade from the oem bulbs. I put them in about a month ago and there hasn't been any problems with the heat. The light is also much brighter. Definitely worth the extra cash...

Forgot to mention that I also got the 9007 headlight lamps, also a lot better.

I have both the silver star headlights and the amber DRL silver stars #3157/4157AST that I installed almost a year ago. No problems with heat in either application. I did however have to replace one of the headlights already (burned out). I like the amber DRL's and I get a lot of compliments on them from other H2 owners.

Yeah, I did do a write up and I have the Tangos in replacement of my DRLs. I have one big complaint though. The bulbs in the Tangos are something weird and not common, I think they might be H2 style (bulb style, not the vehicle) and I can't find any silverstar or piaa whites to put in there. So, I am running my HID headlights and the Tango fog lights are extremely pale yellow compared to the HIDs. I can't find any bulb upgrades for them.

Find some good fogs in the 5" diameter range and you can cut the back of the DRL buckets out and mount the lights directly to the top of the metal bumper for a secure mounting.
