WHY?????

Nice Pewter.

lexpro 05-21-2005 10:34 PM

D, To conceal your address and personal info especially if LoLo is a woman...some of the people i have seen post on this forum are pretty wacky...

DennisAJC 05-21-2005 10:52 PM

The chances of someone doing any kind of harm indirectly though the internet is low if not non-exsistant. Especially on this Forum.

You're more at chance of being in danger driving around your State being spotted by some Hummer hating wacko. And you can't cover your plates on the road.

Hundreds if not thousands of people(People you don't know) see you in your H2 every month. I guess there would be a risk. But what the hell.

lexpro 05-21-2005 11:11 PM

D,,, i know the chances are low but people are still winning the lottery, i see the plate on her pic and if I know the address where the plate is registered who else does...just looking out...

So you think we shouldn't post photos like this?

lexpro 05-21-2005 11:41 PM

I think your plate is cool Tower,,took a minute though.....i guess i was just thinking like she was when she edited her pic.......

LoLo 05-21-2005 11:59 PM

Lexpro... I definitely think that way -- hence, my original decision to edit the photo!

As to your plate, tower... that is great!

tower 05-22-2005 12:12 AM

Thank you both. Glad you took the tease in good spirit.

Beautiful rig LoLo!

Tower: Your rig looked a little different in Moab. I don't remember a National Ski Patrol Sticker.

tower 05-22-2005 06:02 AM

Well, I guess it's my night to get teased. Did you forget the "i" on Dirty Martini, or is there some criptic message I'm missing? I'm hoping a "Dirty Martin" isn't anything like a "Dirty Sanchez!"

Update: I just blew the thing up in PS, and realized that the font you used has those odd i's, one of which seems to have bled into the last n. Guess I'm the goat... AGAIN!!!

The last time I checked the average citizen could not log into the DMV website and run a plate to check for an address nor could said person walk into a police station and ask to have the personal info regarding a particular plate. So what's the harm in posting pictures with the plates in tack? You are in more danger of id theft or revealing personal info every time you use a credit card then you are by posting a picture of your rigs license plate.

KenP 05-22-2005 07:14 PM

Nice looking truck LoLo.

If the plate thing is of a concern, then edit it. Most folks plates are on here in one form or another. The person that needs to worry is DRTY.

On average this is what info you'd need to pull someone's dmv records or a criminal report or background check: I used Louisiana simply as an example the requirements are the same in every state:
Name
Address
Driver's license number
Date of birth
Class of License

None of which is obtainable from looking at someone's license plate.

I’m amazed some folks leave there homes exhibiting this level of paranoia.

To each there own if it makes you feel safer then please cover up your license plates in any photo you post on-line.

LoLo 05-22-2005 09:22 PM

Caution, yes... paranoia, no. Wasn't that saying an ounce of prevention...?

Thanks for the comments, guys!

DennisAJC 05-22-2005 11:37 PM

Bottom line....It's a sweet ride LoLo!

Excellent choice in color too!

http://www.dmv.org/tx-texas/drivers-license.php

If you don't mind show us where on the Texas DMV website you can input a persons license plate number and only there license number and obtain there personal information.

I see where you can order a background check but this report only shows if the person has a criminal record and the status of the cases pending or resolved. It is a way of verifying if a job applicant has a felony record. It will not give you there present address, telephone number or any other type of contact info.

It is not that I don't believe you but there is a little thing called right to privacy where by a state has to protect its citizens against unreasonable search. If by chance you’re a cop or involved with the government in some capacity then perhaps you have access to info the rest of us can not easily get. The average citizen is not going to be able to walk into the DMV with a license plate number and a story and obtain any personal contact information for another person.
