Ok today marked the day... I have never had anything bad to say until now. It rained today, and real bad might I add, but to the short of the story, got in the H2 to leave, and was like WOW!!!! what is that? WATER, yes folks H2O!!! Water coming from the drivers sun visor, where is attaches to the roof....Water on the dash, floor, some still dripping...
That is it, have had it now, between that, the rattle in the rear door, front door, under the dash, rear panels, AC going out, grease on the sunroof cover, the passenger seat issue, I think that about does it....Time to move on....

I had the same problem and it is a very simple fix. There are drainage tubes that run along the roof line and somewhere down and out. They get kinked (most likely at installation), which causes them to back up and leak. The dealers have a fix for this so just take it in. This means that GM is aware of it and has the remedy. I heard a fauced type sound in mine when it was raining her in SoCal. It eventually backed up and started to drip on my dash. Don't sweat it!

I totally concur!!! buy a rover! If you think quality is an issue with GM, then you've not experienced the LR legacy first-hand. Buying a Rover will definitely give you an appreciative perspective on H2 quality!

Sorry to hear the problems....it can be fixed!

blg615 06-25-2003 08:10 PM

Mine started leaking last week on my destin vacation. It started leaking though the Onstar mike. Now, the voice recognition system is out of whack!

Zyx5432 06-25-2003 10:33 PM

Badrap,

You have to much time and $$$ invested to give up that easily.

Besides, you can give up until AFTER we have another local Hummer Happening in Houston.

RasterMaster 06-25-2003 10:59 PM

If its under warranty, take it in and they will fix it.

Check out the OkC Chapter Page!

Saying goodbye is hard to do. If I were you I would go out and get a Cadillac Escalade. Everything that you have for the H2 comes standard for the Escalade. You might not be able to go off road, but ur gonna be the big man in the caddy. Its the most luxurious SUV in the world and its AMAZING. I say go for the Caddy!

I am just a little upset at this point, I am taking it in tomorrow to have a sit down with them about all the issues that I have had since I purchased mine. So I hope that we can hammer things out, I would like to keep it... Just have to wait and see what happens...

Ok according to dealer, it was a pinched vent drain line. They say no big deal, and as a matter of fact, they had about 5 others in there for the same thing. Mine only had a little water in it, I saw one that the carpet, dash and seat were soaked and alot of things were going to have to be replaced. As far as rattles go, we will chase those down soon...Service writer is on vacation, so that will be another trip and more time....

P.S. Got a nice pretty maroon chevy to drive today while they were fixing mine, and washing and waxing it... HAHAHAHAHA too bad it is raining here...but oh well..happens...

Zyx5432 06-26-2003 09:24 PM

Care to share with us exactly where the vent drain line is so we can prevent this from happening?

KenP 06-26-2003 09:43 PM

This is odd. I have not had a leak, but I can hear water draining down the tube. Can anyone else hear the drain tube working?

Maybe a New option on the 04, sunroof Vs. Rain Roof! Sure glad I didn't get one...

Circuitguy 06-27-2003 04:55 AM

BAD! Dude! Dude! You should always close the sunroof while it's raining ! You can't leave it open every time you drive it. I know your tall but you have to use the front window once in a while...BIG-C

BAD......Some dealers or service techs assume that when the roof leaks and it has a sunroof that it must be the roof (or drain hoses) thats leaking. Most leaks happen only when it rains hard. So they assume one of the drain hoses must not be draining fast enough, so they check them, if they find a small crimp or bend in the line they think they found the problem, and move on. The same problem occurs in vehicles with no roof like mine. When it rains hard the cab lights lift up off their seal and water leaks in.
Open your door, stand inside your truck, where you can reach the cab lights, grab one in the middle and lift gently and you will see what I'm talking about. It's been a problem with GM for quite some time. The dealer has a solution for this problem, just make sure he is aware, show him what your talking about.
Just some info........thought you might wanna know. Here is a pic........

Circuitguy 06-27-2003 01:01 PM

Hell no! It's not that easy to lift those lights off. I little bit of glue or somthing should fix that. BIG-C

LOL......we had the same leak problem, was dripping right on the dash. When I saw it I couldn't belive it....I thought what the *#@# ??? It couldn't be leaking.....we have no sun roof. But sure enough it was the lights.
New seal around them....no problems now.

Longhorn 06-27-2003 02:23 PM

I've had the soaked carpet issue twice! They initially did the drain hose fix and assured me it had been "throughly tested" but the following set of thunderstorms brought another floorboard full of water.

This time after extensive exploration, the service monkeys decided I had a door seal that was fitted improperly. After this was repaired, my truck was returned to me without a wash or interior wipe down. They had left the doors open all weekend and the interior was extremely dusty. There were even visable spider webs hanging from the rearview mirror and inside the ac vents! How's that for service?

On a subsequent visit for an oil change, they forgot to reconnect the vaccuum lines and my Hummer died before I got off the lot! After the lines were reconnected they sent me home after another "thorough inspection" to make sure everything was tip top. Too bad they installed the oil pan drain plug improperly and about 4 quarts drained into my driveway over night!

Sorry for the complaining, The point is my truck won't return to Hewlett HUMMER in Austin TX.

cubby 06-27-2003 02:32 PM

WOW Longhorn.......you need a new dealer !!!
We bought ours at Southwest Hummer. My husband actually discovered the light problem, but so far I have nothing but good things to say about our dealer.

Big Z 06-27-2003 02:36 PM

I would Call the big boy complaint line LongHorn! That is totally unaccepable, and they shouldn't be allowed to sell or service Hummers. IMO

MAC 06-27-2003 02:51 PM

I have no leak and we had some serious rain storms last winter. But I also found out those running lights are easy to life off, I leave them alone after that. When washing Hummer, if I accidentally touched them, they are kind of loose. I have no sunroof by choice, but I never heard any running water sound in my A pillars, maybe those drain pipes are equipped with sunroof only.

I have also heard about leaking from the running lights, either through members here or from one of Klaus's many GM bulletins.

Longhorn, don't go back there, not likely they will improve or change on your next visit. Some people don't like their jobs and have no pride in their work or simply too stupid, and as usual, they don't even know it.

Zyx5432 06-27-2003 11:26 PM

Cubby,

Did you get the light problem fixed at Southwest?

I bought mine there too. Fortunately, I have not had any leaks yet. But just in case I do....

cubby 06-28-2003 02:06 PM

Really Z ??? who was your salesman ??

No actually my husband fixed ours.....but the dealer knew about it, told us what to do. I didn't want to spend the time leaving it at the dealer. You know most dealers take forever to do anything. LOL

Just let them know if you have any problems.....they are a great bunch of people and will do what they can to help.

Actually, it was a saleswoman. Jean Williams.

She was really nice.

And you're right about dealers in general taking forever.

WOW....she was also our saleswoman
She is a great lady....very easy to get along with.

Buckeye Hummer 06-28-2003 03:50 PM

If you can hear the water running get to your dealer FAST! I heard mine running and about a week later the leak started. I think the pinch in the line is where you hear the water going through. It's an easy fix but can cause a mess if you don't get it taken care of before a heavy rain!

Zyx5432 06-28-2003 08:36 PM

Nice to have some warning signs.

No water running yet. Then again, I've only had mine for two months and it hasn't rained that much here since.

I assume that a number of the problems (not necessarily this one) that have been discovered on the first models off the line have been fixed on newer ones....Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Frank Hewitt 06-29-2003 10:24 PM

Sorry about all of your troubles. I'd lose some faith in mine too, if I had all of your troubles.
But in responding to an earlier reply to your post, PLEASE, don't ever go by some bling bling Escalade to replace an H2. That's just plain sick. Exept in the case you never go off-road, in which case you may as well go with the bling bling mobile. I figure, if you have no idea what off-road is, you wouldn't miss the abilities of the H2.

I hope you have no more troubles.

BADRAP 06-30-2003 01:03 AM

Most of my issues have been taken care of and the dealer has been trying to do everything that they can to get things taken care of..
So hopefully as things progress, all of this will be taken care of and I will return to be a happy person that owns an H2....
