Depends on how hard you are going to use them. They only have a single bar, and I bet they are not even close to the 120 wall that is on the OEM's.

good point

nmikes 12-16-2005 09:24 PM

Looked into them as well... I think they are for show... some guy on another forum bent the hell out of them.

You got a link to that?

DarthKarl 12-16-2005 09:39 PM

Right now I don't think you can get anything stronger than the OEM rocker bars. And frankly I think they look better than the maniks anyway.

partsguy 12-16-2005 10:57 PM

Most manick products are for show.Do not think they will protect you vehicle or stay box nice!

H3 Hummer 12-17-2005 12:07 AM

The OEM ones are heavy. Like 50 or 60 pounds. They are heavy duty and two bars not one. The OEM steps that go into them are very nice and they can be taken off in about 5 minutes.

I have slamned down on the OEM's before and wipped off the dirt with no problems.

We need to start a donation for WannabeH3. If everyone just gave one dollar he could probably pay for the rest. I will start with a $10.00 donation.

Help the young starving students that live in the 4th most expensive city in the USA. How are we to pay for chicks, beer and off-road accessories without your support. Dial 1800/give2h3. The fist 100 callers will get something. It's a surprise but they will get something. Email me if you would like to send check or money order directly to him.

Go OEM

H3 Hummer 12-21-2005 03:03 AM

So do I have you down for $1.00?

H3 Hummer 12-21-2005 03:05 AM

WannabeH3 is so cool.... I will donate one of my rocker bars to him. He can get out and switch them on and off when the going gets tough. Wow, that rhymes.

hmrlvr 12-21-2005 03:22 AM

I have slammed hard on the OEM bars and as previously stated, no problems. I looked into the maniks but the guy from Manik said they're more for show.

cherokeekid 12-21-2005 03:44 AM

Any up close pics of the factory rails?

Edspad 12-21-2005 03:57 AM

How much to Fab your own?..pro/cons. I was kind of disappointed of the cost 500+ for factory bars.

Any idea on the wall thickness of the tubing? how much do you think they weigh?

hmrlvr 12-21-2005 04:37 AM

120 wall is what was posted up the page, whatever that means, They probably weigh about 50lbs. Two people to put them on and no problem.

cherokeekid 12-21-2005 05:12 AM

Missed that spec.

wannabeH3 12-21-2005 01:03 PM

thanks h3 hummer, i appreciate it.. have you raised more than 11 bucks yet?

There is no dought about the final cost offsetting the damages prevented, But it would be nice to have a another choice and the lower price that might come with that.
Great Pictures. I wont order the manik bars now after learning about its design.

H3 Hummer 12-21-2005 02:04 PM

Sorry I spent the money on parking but things are looking promissing.

NOT

wannabeH3 12-21-2005 02:43 PM

Good luck with that. Those rock rails are a beaotch to put on. You better off moding your step bars to fit on the rock rails. You really will become pissed every time you want to swap back and forth.

H3 Hummer 12-21-2005 04:12 PM

Once they are on I don't think you will want to take them off. They are heavy and not that much fun to have to install often.

Sewie 12-21-2005 04:17 PM

What they said.

Once you put the rails on yourself, I think you'll change your mind about swapping them out.
